Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples

As a highly experienced therapist, I am finding the approach spelled out in this book to be the most useful I have tried.

Its publication date of "2010" is misleading as it is a reprint of a 1988 hardcover. As such, there is no research noted beyond 1988. This is not to say the book is not useful for learning about EFT and its application, however had I known of this I would have purchased an actual newer version. Of course, there has been extensive research since 1988 on EFT, particularly with trauma and multicultural considerations in therapy.

This book really gave some great insight as to how EFT works with couples. I found it to be helpful and gained some information I had not known prior to reading this.

Most of the book is a pretty dry dry discussion of the theory behind the general strategy. However, there is a chapter that does address the "how-to" pretty well, and this makes the book much more worthwhile to me in my practice.

Just what a therapist needs.

Insightful and detailed. More for professionals than the couples themselves.

Dr Greenberg and Johnson's work contains remarkable insight as to how our emotions can heal us as well as trap us. Looking forward to more enlighting information from them

I cannot praise this book highly enough. I am a family and couple therapist and found the book immensely helpful. I would recommend it to all therapists who work with adult relationship problems.

I like the work of Leslie Greenburg, it follows my existing method of therapy and applies it in a relatively simple way to couple therapy.
