Works Well! Does the Job! Can Use Mylar Bags! Usage w/ Sous Vide. Interim Solution Until Chamber Vacuum?
I've never used a vacuum sealing machine before but I realized that I wanted/needed one when I began my adventures into sous vide cooking.Prior to the Sinbo DZ-280, I had been using the 'Archimedes method'; i.e., dipping the zip-lock bag into a body of water to push the air out. This worked 90% of the time and I really didn't think I'd need anything more than that. However, I started getting into longer sous vide cooks (12+ hours, various temperatures) and encountered incidents where the zip-lock bag (freezer) broke/tore. It was a little upsetting to wake up the next day and see that your bag is leaking and the food is unusable. Fortunately, these cooks were just experiments and I was not setting up for a 'real' dinner party (yet). This experience and other thoughts (wouldn't it be great to store items longer in the freezer) convinced me to take another look into vacuum sealing. For now, since I live in a small apartment and am already running out of counter space with my kitchen gadgets, it also didn't make financial sense to spend money on a chamber vacuum. However, from all the forums, people who have chamber vacuums seem to be unable to stop talking about how great they are and the savings in the end, etc. After reading reviews for various options (e.g., Food Saver, Zip-Lock sealing, etc.), I stumbled upon some reviews about the Sinbo and how it was capable of using mylar bags (used by chamber vacuums). In my price-range, it seemed like all vacuum sealers would have the same issues and problems; there is no perfect vacuum sealer under $200. However, if I could just spend $100 on a vacuum sealer that would have about the same longevity/durability/functionality as others AND utilize cheaper mylar bags.. This seemed more of a win than other options. The Sinbo is easy to use. You push a lever until the 'snorkel' comes out. Then, you place the bag around the snorkel and 'clamp' the bag. Once you turn on the button, the snorkel sucks air out until you hit the clamp button (twice) to begin the sealing process. I must admit that I had to practice these steps on a few bags and that it took some getting used to; however, I feel that it is something that is easy to do.As mentioned by others, this sealer is meant for dry-sealing (i.e., no liquids). For those who are hoping to do marinades, you may want to consider another vacuum sealer or looking into freezing your marinades into cubes and then placing them into the bag. Some users mentioned that the unit has a tendency to collapse the bag and not seal correctly. From my experience, I have seen this occur on occasion. Unlike the Food Saver bags, there is no 'channel' for the air to go escape properly, thus, when you're sealing a regular mylar bag, you'll encounter times like this. Raising the bag to be level with the snorkel and/or adjusting the bag during operation will minimize these occurrences.Overall, based on the functionality, I'm pleased with the Sinbo. It isn't a perfect or 'great' solution but it does its job. What really made this the option for me was the ability to use mylar bags.Would I choose this option again if I could go back in time? Yes.Is this the end-all be-all (buy it for life) solution? Probably not. But I think it's a nice step until my chamber vacuum.

Works very well!
I bought the vacuum sealer to seal electronic components as well as circuit board assemblies.Since this is one of the very few affordable if not the only model with retractable nozzle on the market, I decided to give it a try. When I first got it, I started trying different seal settings and different ways of holding the ESD bag( hold it straight and make sure it doesn’t bend or wrinkle) I got it to work nicely sofar. That’s day one of trying it, I can’t speak much about it’s long term reliability.Seal setting 5-6 on a standard ESD bag.Once you’re satisfied with the vacuum level push on the lever once to retract the nozzle then quickly push again to seal the bag.Make sure you read the manual if you couldn’t get it to vacuum properly.the attached photo is for a sealed component reel that was fully vacuumed. The vacuum strength is more than what I expected it.

Excellent. For the money
Excellent. For the money, I cant find a better one than this.I bough this for home use doing samples for work. At work we have a $50,000 commercial chamber vac and I can tell you this one performs just as well sealing and pulling the air.Only thing the $50k machine has over this is volume.I use commercial grade 5 & 7 Mil poly bags we for all my samples and It has not failed me yet. This machine is capable of Vac packing just about any style of bags. Only negative is you need to learn how ow to set the bag correctly so it pulls all the air, once you find that spot this machine is on par with the commercial one at work.

Works as advertized
While I have only used this machine a few times, I am quite pleased with the performance. My wife and I usually process the items together because it is a little easier with an extra pair of hands to position the bags and clamp the holding bar in place. Other than that the device works very nicely as long as you position the food fairly close to the suction tube and pay attention during the vacuum process. You sometimes have to massage the bag close to the vacuum tube to get a complete evacuation of the bag. We have sealed a number of emergency preparedness food items with the oxygen absorbers for long term storage and after several months the seals are holding up very well.

Meh
This thing is very cheaply made. When it was working I’d have to slide it over and over on these nail strips (colorstreet) bc the plastic is thicker. Chip bags are really the only use for them If I’m being honest. I dropped it by accident and since then the heating element doesn’t work so it’s useless for me now. Sucks bc it was small and compact.

Great machine!
This is a great machine! I love that I can buy cheaper bags that work just fine with it. It also vacuum seals mylar bags, which most other vacuum sealers don't do. It was also a great price and included 30 free bags with it when I purchased it. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the users manual was useless at learning how to operate it. However, I just went to the web and found videos about how to operate it. The other reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because when I attempted to vacuum seal a bag with a flour mixture it sucked it into the snorkel hose. I tried putting a paper towel over the snorkel to keep it from going in and that did help, but I didn't get a good seal on one of my bags because flour got around the top of the bag. Next time I will try to put my dry ingredients into a zipper type bag first leaving the top open some, then put that bag into my vacuum bag just to see if I can get it to seal properly. So, if you plan to do a lot of dry bulk storage in vacuum bags, I would recommend getting a more expensive model vacuum sealer. Otherwise, this one is great!

Do not buy! Item did not work and is not eligible to be returned
I was so excited for this product but to my dismay I was only able to use it twice before it melted the little padded part and is unable to seal now. I tried contacting to have a replacement sent but this item is not eligible for returns or replacement. Also says magnetic but the weight of the item is heavier than the magnet can hold. I was willing to overlook that part but might add well warn others.
