Good sound,bad connections
Things ain't wot they used to be! I bought a replacement tank because my original one failed. The original one failed within a fairly short time, and I'm sure this replacement will too.The problem is that Accutronics now utilises two plastic push-on connectors to connect the RCA jacks to the coils -- as with so many components now used in modern amps, they might be suitable for a computer which sits stationary under a desk for a couple of years and is then replaced, but they are hopelessly inadequate for a gigging amp which is constantly moved about and is expected to last for years. My lack of confidence in the weak construction is such that I purchased three tanks, to have a couple 'in stock'So, good sound, bad connections...I also purchased the MOD brand replacement tank which claims to address this problem by hardwiring the connection (as Accutronics used to), thus avoiding the hopeless push-on connector, but the sound is slightly different -- there seems to be a little less reverb and a slightly different tone -- the net effect is that the reverb is not so prominent
