Gelco 5/8" mesh Chimney Cap 12H x 24W x45L

So much cheaper than having a roofing company install. Easily spray painted black. The 360 piano hinge allowed it to be mounted on or outside of the chimney. Lots of sizes available. Even comes with masonry bit and screws.

Installation went better than I anticipated. The flexible mesh sides allow for easier anchoring of unit to the non-uniform cement chimney cap. I purchased the Gelco because of the option of having the hinged anchor plates lie inside the mesh sides. This allowed me to order a larger size, big enough that the lid overhangs the entire chimney by 1-1/2 inches all around. (The lid overhangs the mesh sides approximately 2-1/2 inches.) Also I needed the 12 inch height because my flues were higher than the cement cap by 7 inches. Gelco had what I needed and the quality turned out to be good.Couple of tips for DIY installers. I followed the directions and had no hitches. However, The drill bit/hammer drill jumped on start up several times on the cement cap compromising my hole placement a little and I would have done better to have started the hole with a pointed chisel. I also recommend if using the tapcon anchors, after blowing out the dust putting a little masonry caulk or adhesive from the chimney cap people into the tapcon holes before anchoring.

Easy to install but even better is that it can be removed esily if you need to clean your chimney.

I painted it black and installed following instructions. Everything went well. The only problem was that some of the mesh had razor sharp edges and I cut myself during the installation. Be forwarned.

Came quickly. Didn’t like the color so spray painted it black. Install was straightforward and it looks great up there.

Very fast service. My chimney cap is on the roof. It fits perfectly. I am looking forward to years of good service from it. Thank you.
