Tandy Leather Super Skiver 3025-00

This tool feels great in the hand and is really sturdy. It comes with three super sharp blades in a little plastic case. Works just like shaving your face but with leather. The right angle and pressure to get a clean cut take socratic’s but it’s great when you get it down. Great for belts.

I have never used another skiver before, but I was able to use this one to thin down leather for knife sheaths. It seems accurate to me and makes good clean cuts. It makes touch up easy too if you left a thick spot by accident. Holding it at the correct angle for the cut you desire requires some learning and is easy to do by paying attention to the angle you hold the skiver. Blades are sharp. The tool has a solid, quality feel. Changing blades requires removing two screws, changing the blade, and re-inserting the screws - easy.

It does shave off some leather but some of it gets stuck under the blade and between the metal tool. Maybe since this is my first try i did something wrong like a dull blade. I do want to say the craftsmanship on it was great. The look was a nice black even coat. It feels like it will never break by how much weight is in it. Not as far as too heavy but that it doesn't feel flimsy. Let me be clear here. I bought it to use mainly as a thinning tool and it dug way too deep in my hide. IT IS NOT MADE FOR THAT AND SHOULDN'T BE USED FOR THAT. I was trying to be a cheap skate and use this to thin my hide and it was uneven and cut right through to the fur side. Just use it for the edge and nothing else it will not work for thinning thick parts. I have to also give a big shout out to my shipper they got it to me within 3 days and im across the USA from them. They also were cheaper. The shipper i bought it from was "stecksstore". I didn't want to spend money on over night delivery but was hoping to have it here over the weekend and it came. The tool is great but since the blade let some skin under it at the edge i gave it four stars.

Works great for the first few days then blade dull quickly. Handle is nice and sturdy and easy to control in hands. Perfect for small leather jobs

I had a cheap skiver that came in a leather tool kit that I had bought. I was using it for skiving a leather belt to attach buckles, and it was not easy to do. I decided to buy this skiver since I have had a lot of luck with other Tandy products. I could not believe how much easier and more precise it was to trim down the leather using this awesome tool. A couple of quick passes and the leather was half as thick and perfectly even. If you are doing any leather work, do yourself a favor and pick up this skiver!!!!

The one I recieved was not silver but black. I actually like the black look better. Either way, that is cosmedic, and does not affect the the actually use of this wonderful tool. It is high quality, but yet very light weight. It is perfect for what I need, and I am sure it is going to last a long time. The discription did not mention that it comes with three blades, so yes, it does come with a couple of replacements. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a skiver. For the price, you would be hard pressed to find a better quality super skiver.

I didn't expect too much for this tool because I had got a similar one from a retail store. That one was a headache. It didn't work properly after a couple of time use. But this one is much different, far better than my expectation. It is easy to handle and it came with several spare blades as a very good idea when the first one is worn out - so far the first blade is still working very well. In one word, this tool you can trust for a long term use with available spare blades. I believe you can always get the spare blades if those that came with the order use up someday. Highly recommended!

There are much better tools out there to use for thinning out leather. Would not recommend this one.
