Size:5 Kg Perlite is used in potting mixes as a stand-alone soilless medium for plant rooting. It's pH is neutral (around 7) and completely sterile, which is critical for rooting plant cuttings. When used alone, it provides perfect aeration and holds the right amount of moisture. Uses: 1.) Perlite can hold three to four times its weight in water, but never becomes soggy. Unlike soil or organic matter, it never disintegrates. 2.) It is also used with hydroponic systems world wide, with superior crop production. 3.) When used in potting soil mixtures, perlite lightens the mixture and improves aeration and drainage. This is especially useful for large container plantings. 4.) The newest use of perlite is in rooftop gardens. The main limiting factor for rooftop gardens is weight. Using perlite over other soil mixtures reduces the weight dramatically, by more than half, allowing gardens to thrive in cities where garden space is virtually non-existent.The added benefit is the green roof also reduces heat gain inside the building. 5.) Aside from its use as a soil amendment or replacement, perlite is used as a carrier for herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers. 6.) Perlite is also used to pellitize seeds for easier planting. Benefits: 1.) It is light weight, clean, odorless, sterile, neutral pH , inert, non-toxic and environmentally safe. 2.) It is free from organic impurities, diseases, weeds, and insects, and resistant to surface moss and algae. 3.) It is ideal for Green roofs/Terrace gardening, Tissue culture, Hydroponics, Container growing, Floriculture, Home and Interior gardens, Nursery stocks, Interiorscapes, Ornamental plants, Horticulture, Vegetables, Shrubs, Fruit trees, Cactus, Xerophytes, Bonsai suitable , Seed starting, Root cuttings, Storing flower bulbs and tubers, Potting mixes, Soil-less growing mixes, Landscaping, Turfing industry, Lawns, Golf courses, etc.
