Running Gites and B&Bs in France: The Essential Guide to a Successful Business Paperback – January 17, 2008

Good advice, and they do try to talk you out of living the fantasy... as they should. But if you are determined the advice is sound and their are good reference recommendations for more in depth topics, mostly France's legal system.One day... one... day.

So far I've only read half the book that's about running gites. The other half is about running B&B's. It has lots of information and stories from people who have done it already. It brings up many things that I hadn't thought about before. It's definitely a good place to START anyway if you're thinking about doing something like this.

It was very well written but it was published nearly 10 years ago so very out of date

covers everthing you need to know and more dont belive the television shows simplicity this book covers laws and highlights the pit falls brilliant.The good life comes at a price and this book explains it all.

Good book with lots of useful tips, have not got to the stage of running a gites as yet but feel sure that this will come in useful if we do?

Very good book, informative and well thought out. An updated version on tax issues and laws would obviously help but provided all I needed to "decide"...

If you watch TV and think it's just a matter of buying a place in France for next to nothing, running it for next to nothing, then raking in the profits, whilst living the good life - Think Again!This book will give you all the pitfalls and information. You would be wise to read it, then be very worried and then (and only then) decide if you want to take the plunge...Fully informed.This book could save you much more than it's purchase price. Recommended!

I brought this book based on the number of good reviews it already had and I have not been disappointed. I have not finished reading it yet but so far the information has been easy to read, well explained and extremely useful. Some of the information is common sense and reinforces what I already thought which means I know I am on the right tracks! The rest is good information for anyone looking to run a gite or B&B in France and I would highly recommend it.

I found this book very informative, with lots more information on where i can do more research. Covers everything, for the cost, its well worth it.
