At first glance, many will pass this book by as too expensive. Don't make that mistake! Mr. Wirz gives thorough coverage to the subject in 380 pages. The book is packed with solid troubleshooting information. Especially valuable are pages 179 to 195 which discuss "diagnosing nine system problems". There is a drawing for each system showing pressures and temperatures for a cap tube system and a TXV system. Very helpful.I have worked in industry on large refrigeration units (50-200 tons) for 25 years. If only I had this book years ago. I purchased Doolins Doolin's Trouble Shooters Bible: Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Heat Pumps, Heating, 5th Edition, which turned out to be refrigeration troubleshooting history. Sent it back for this instead.It seems clear to me that Mr. Wirz is more interested in educating people than writing to sell a book. Thanks for the effort!

It was VERY hard for me to pay this much for a book, but I am so glad I did. I've been an HVAC tech for 15 years and have just landed a job that also has refrigeration. This book not only fully educates you on refrigeration, but reinforces things you may have let slip away on the HVAC side as well. I find this book a pleasure to read. It is just non-stop information and it is explained in such an easy to understand way with many pictures and diagrams. I'm over half way through and plan to read the whole thing again to really commit it to memory. Think of it as an investment.

It is an excellent text book on the subject. If you are not an air conditioning technician it is not for you to start with.The review questions at the end of each chapter definitely reenforce learning.Like many other books, there is nothing much about reading compressor nameplate, determining compressor BTU and horse power rating for replacement purpose when the manufacturer specs is not available.The book is good enough otherwise.Commercial Refrigeration: For Air Conditioning Technicians

The Kindle version is great, and when viewed on a tablet, is better than the paper version. You can zoom in, highlight, and bookmark. Check out a sample version on your device of choice if you are unsure. The content is very good, just what I needed. If you have an understanding of residential/commercial HVAC, this will help you grasp refrigeration with no problem. I have even got a deeper understanding of HVAC related controls and concepts by reading this book. And if you are just starting out, this book will still be a valuable asset to your education.

II have just started my class at college using this text book. The book is very informative and easy to follow and understand. The cd that comes in the back is in PowerPoint form and it makes everything very easy to follow. I am very happy with this text and getting it through Amazon was cheaper and a lot less hassle then going to the college book store. I will continue getting all my books through Amazon.

Anyone looking for a straightforward informative book on commercial refrigeration and refrigeration in general, this is a must have. I speak from the rookie perspective having just received my Refrigeration Operating Engineer's license only six months ago. This book had i purchased it while attending trade school would've been a tremendous asset !!!. It may or may not impress the seasoned operator or hvac tech much ?, but I find it invaluable and a definite recommend

Great product but my area flooded back in 2016 and I lost it…

A good friend of mine wrote this book, and I had to have it. This is his second book he wrote. It is a great book, to help you when you get on a job, Also if you just want to learn about Refrigeration. It is writen so you can under stand and this book has great pictures. The pictures are real life pictures, of jobs he has been on, not the on in other books that are staged in a perfect seting. Thank you Dick for such a great book.
