Letters to a Young Brother: Manifest Your Destiny Review: Should be shared to every young man - Great read Review: Read it. - Im a white foster dad that puts my effort into understand and relating to the young men i get in my home frequently. Even though as a child myself I went to school in the projecfs of louisville, KY and was one of few kids of my race there. I was still able to go home to the suburbs at night so while i do understand what its like to be a minority in some ways I cant fully understand it all. I like to use this book to identify to the young men that education is key and that that is not just coming from me its coming from many other respected black people in our society, with very straight forward language. This book helps to squash some of the victim mentality and machismo issues that we have faced with the kids. I think it is a great resource along with a few others. I will be reading parts of it out loud with our newest young man that gets here tomorrow and is avaiable for adoption. I hope this book helps him see that what matters most is not the gucci belt he put on his christmas list but the brain he has in his head and the confidence in his worth as a compassionate and caring human.

Anytime I see a brother promoting positive messages I salute them. I have collected all of Hill Harper's Books and was fortunate to have him autograph two of his books at my sorority's convention. I purchased several copies of this book to give to my mentoring program in Hawaii called EMBODI, a Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated program to reinforce our lessons of fortitude and progression as an AA male. It is truly a benefit for Hill Harper to continue to engage his audience and attempt to remedy the ills that many of our AA males are facing and provide valuable insight. His desire to mentor is infectious and that he doesn't cultivate the lifestyle of $$, fast cars, and other stereotypical innuendos is truly appreciated. Compassion is a strong suit in this page turner!

Great Book for a Young Man
I gifted this book to my nephew who is 25 years of age. He told me that the book is relevant to men his age. He found it so interesting that he wanted to finish the book in one day. Good buy.

Beautiful story!
Surprisingly good read! My dad bought this book for my brother when he was younger; my brother and I both grew up without our mothers. Recently I've been attempting to heal that mother wound, but there is minimal literature on such compared to the father wound. I remembered this book and decided to give it a read. Now, granted, I'm not a young man, but nonetheless, it was quite helpful; I cried a time or two reading. The slang, although a bit outdated in some ways, does add a personable factor, as intended... My 13yo nephew is going through a similar struggle, so I gifted him the book and he loves it, says it is helping him to learn and grow as a young man. Definitely worth the purchase and I recommend gifting it to a young man, or woman, in need of a little guidance!

Hill is REAL !!
Got this for our teen in the family who wants to follow everyone else so we are stopping it before it starts. He loves to read still so I buy him actual books and we discuss. I don't believe in sugar coating and babying a child. We do believe in loving on him but keeping it real as well, We want him to know the world won't love him the way we do . He loved this book !

I bought this book for my son, as i am a single parent and wanted to offer him a male perspective on life. He is 12 soon to be 13 this week and cannot put the book down and reads it everynight before bed. I have read brief extracts just to see if it is okay for his age, even though i think it is written for the older teen years, but at least its an eye opener for young male teens growing up. I would really recommend it to other mothers who would like to buy this for their sons.

Knowledge is power only if you apply it for each according to his/her abilities to each according to his/her needs.

He has an infectious writing style-as if you are standing beside him listening to his conversation. I have read a range of books in this genre and this is one of the best.
