I give this to anyone I know going to London
This was on the coffee table of my favorite hotel in London the first time I was in residence. I now give it as a gift to anyone I know going to London, whether for the first time or the 100th.

Nice Treat
What a nice treat this little volume is for reading at home or while on tour. The book contains many photos, is nicely organized and reads very nicely. A nice companion for travel in and around London. Unless you have a personal guide, this is the next best thing!

Charming guide
Charming guide to London's lesser known spots; lovely ideas for getting off the beaten path and living a little more like a local. Liked the maps (these were missing from the earlier book, Tea & Cake, so are a welcome addition). Lots of great photos. Very cute little book. Will be looking out for this author's next project.

better than her previous book because of maps
I'm comparing this to the author's other book about Tea and Cake shops: on the upside, this book has maps of the locations and places other than eateries. On the downside, the photos need labels what mentioned address is depicted.Still, it felt like a nice little trip to London, flipping through this book.Note that this isn't really a guidebook; it's more about neighborhoods in London and little gems in off-the -touristy path routes.

Now I am saving up so I can go to London and check out some of these wonderful villages. I just love that city!

Informative
Excellently written compact book with very nice photos of parts of hidden London. Zena Alkayat captures spirit of these little enclaves of London away from the usual tourist hotspots. It encourages you to go out and explore this great and varied city. I first heard about this book on Robert Elms BBC London 94.9 show and highly recommend it to any who wants explore and support independent retailers. Zena should write other books for the other cities in the UK, which I am sure have village enclaves of there own worth exploring.

Not a village guide
Nice little book but it is less about the villages and more like a compendium of shops. If you're looking for independent artisan (or pricy...) shops in each location it's great. As a guide to villages it just had a map and a little bit of narrstive. There are other better books for exploring little streets and architechture.

Great little book
What a lovely little book. So full of places to go and see that i never even knew was there. A lovely size book not to small full of wonderful pictures with the quality of the book and paper excellent. A pleasure to look at and read and cant wait to go and now find all this lovely places. If you love London and enjoy wandering around finding new places which are not on the map then this book is perfect. Also makes a lovely gift for friends.

Great Topic.. BUT
I was slightly disappointed with this book in that it does not cover the 'villages' in any sort of depth. more of just catching a passing glimpse .. It is a topic that would really lend itself to a much much bigger book..

visiting London - U need this book
all the details and information you require for an in-depth appreciation of the great city.best of all, you do not have to finish the book on the first visit. use it sparingly to gain the most and best rewards.by the time the book has been exhausted - you start again, as places will have changed too some extent.a long term read to parts of the metropolis that you never knew existed.
