Delicious, nutritious, allergen-friendly meals
I have these tasty freeze-dried meals on auto ship and recently used a bunch when our family went camping. The meals came in handy on a couple nights when there was heavy rain and we couldn’t conveniently cook on our grill. Two packets were enough to feed two adults and three little kids. All of my kids, even, surprisingly, my picky one year old seemed to enjoy these! We have a couple people with severe allergies in our family so it is really appreciated that the foods from Wild Zora are free from allergens. The ingredient list is really high quality, high protein, and healthful. It seems like most freeze dried meals don’t have as high a protein content. You could easily add additional seasonings (tastes great as is but would be easy to customize), proteins, veggies, or serve over a grain such as rice. The texture is great, as with many freeze dried meals the food is chopped pretty fine prior to packaging.I have also used these meals when restaurant fare has been unsuitable due to allergens and the meals are portable, lightweight, and easy to prepare. I have only made the meals with hot water in a bowl or pan (not the pouch) but being able to make them with cooler water/ in the pouch makes them very versatile and convenient.

Surprisingly good.
Normally I would not buy this type of product. It seems more suitable for man bun wearing guys that for a 66 year old red neck. But I decided to try the variety pack for my wife. She likes to try freeze dried meals when we are not at home. I was very surprised when I tried these. I liked them better than my wife did.I like the major brand freeze dried products. But these are a big step above them. They are a bit more pricey though. The meals are tasty, easy to prepare, and filling. I found these single serving meals are more filling then the two serving meals from the well known competition. They also are not as bland as the competition. I didn't find a need to spice it up.I will be buy them again.

Filling but tiny pieces!
This was my first backpacking adventure and I knew I wanted something with less sodium and processed ingredients after hearing so many negatives about other dehydrated meals, as well as wanting more vegetable options. I decided to try these instead. I really loved the fruit and flaxseed for a breakfast option, especially the pineapple/mango one. The dinner meals were fine, although they all taste too similar. They were filling! My only complaint is that the meat and veggie pieces are much too finely chopped and I got very bored eating the same bite after bite. It kind of seemed like I was eating the little dehydrated veggie packets that come with some noodles. If you aren’t on a strict paleo or grain-free diet, I would suggest bringing tortilla shells. Luckily I had some and that definitely helped the monotony of the meals. I also added salt and pepper, and wished I had some Tabasco too.I would purchase these again, definitely for the breakfast meals. I think I’d do the dinners as well, but perhaps eat half a packet and half of something with rice or grain. Definitely worth the money and I’m happy to support this company!

Good chili but too spicy
We took two of these backpacking on the AT. The texture and vegetables turned out great, but the chili itself was too spicy for my daughter so I tried it. I like spicy food and thought this chili was too spicy. We ended up giving the other meal away to another hiker.

So glad I found these!
I recently bought the seven pack for a 53 mile backpacking trip and was very pleased with all of them. I’m not a breakfast person and these breakfasts were amazingly good. I am strictly Paleo/AIP diet and I was so happy to find this brand. A lot of the other dehydrated brands had crap in it that I didn’t want to eat along with gluten, sugars and other excessive carbs. These were very nutrient dense and I felt clean and healthy on my trip. The flavors were really good and the quality was top notch. I was excited to have dinner every night! The only thing I would suggest is maybe bring some extra fat to throw in there like a bit of butter or some extra olive or coconut oil. That would make it absolutely perfect and you need that extra fat on backpacking trips for added fuel, these are on the lean side on the fats, but still very filling. I will eat these on my next back packing trip 100%.

Not really for trail or anywhere
I ordered the mix. So a few different nightmeals and a few breakfast. I tried two of dinners for lunch, hoping the 2nd one would better. I was wrong. I can eat anything, but I could not finish either of these. And the gas from both! Lethal! Even the curry couldn't save the meal. It truly was awful, and it seems like this was a common report, as they advertise " Now with better flavor". Yikes! The package reads healthy, though calories are very low for a hiking dinner. But what they combine is bad. And everything is ground down. Its weird. All of the vegetables are a little more than small flakes now. I also tried the banana nut blueberry with flax seed. The blueberries were great! They rest was so ground down, it just made for a horible texture and beyond bland just like the dinners. Nothing sweetening it, just plain milled down flax seed. Glad I tried these before hiking, that would have been rough. Truly made by food scientists or people that believe kale is good.

The Caldera Chicken Curry used to be good.
I have purchased both the Summit Savory Chickend and Caldera Chicken Curry. I did not really like the Summit Savory Chicken, but enjoyed the Curry. I bought 7 packages for a 2-week trip and found that they completely changed the Caldera Chicken Curry recipe. It tasted like the Summit Savory, but with extra Cayenne Pepper. I thought it was a manufacturing mistake, but their support says it's not a mistake. They stuck a new "Nutrition Facts" sticker over the old and it looked like someone in the production process might have made a mistake. My girlfriend said the same thing. The new "Curry" does not taste like Curry. It's now difficult to eat the whole thing. I would not trust them. It's not a consistent company. I recommended to quite a few people in the past, but not any more. Food for the Sole seems to be out of business, must be a small, niche market and tough to make a profit.
