How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk Paperback – 1 February 2009

I have been reading it from last 2 months, very good book, there are examples of children behaviour and there are excercise also. We can take our time to read and helpful to raise our children in a good way.

It was a great guide to know deeply about kids' feeling and how our reactions affect them. I see my kids differently through this book. Truely a mindset changer.

Though the practices and idea discussed are good, not sure if smaller children can understand these ways and cooperate.Intended for kids aged 3 or above who have some routine like going to school, which os not happening in these pandemic times.

I’ve read this book earlier. It is also available free on Amazon Prime reading. However I wanted this is in hard copy. This was not available in nearby bookstores.I was mainly afraid about getting a pirated copy online. However, this is original copy and I’m so thankful to Amazon and Seller both for delivering this at reasonable price!

Wonderful skills for kids, great for co-workers and family. Short and simple book, among the most valuable I've read. Took me from clueless about kids to a favorite confidant, and now I know how rewarding that can be. An important side benefit is that I can now get better better cooperation, partly because when I don't it's because I am wrong and now have a way to figure that out and correct it. The skills I learned serve me well with family and at work in ways I could not have predicted. Simple powerful communication skills. The Gold Standard for parenting.

I found this book to be a very easy to read book. I really enjoyed reading it and it was very informative in demonstrating a new way to Listen and Talk to kids in such a way that I was not aware of that seems like it could work.

I work with parents and children. I think the approach to parenting in this book is brilliant. While the book was written years ago the approach fits very well with all the latest neuroscuience, research on attachment and bonding, attunement and the role of the parent in helping children learn to emotionally regulate. It describes a way of parenting that does recognise the value of boundaries but is non punitive. Makes for children who are capable of reflecting on their feelings and taking responsibility for their feelings and actions. I bought it when my twins were 3. They are 26 now and we are constantly being told what nice people they are. I like it because it's really nice to parents too. It shows examples of different ways exchanges between parent and child can go in cartoon form. I have bought loads of copies and given them away. If you only buy one parenting book this is it. Recommended inGuardian Family.

This book is well thought out and offers a lot of anecdotes that help parents realize they're not alone in dealing with some of the problems that come up when raising children. While the book targets parents of younger children, some of the pointers are applicable to those of us with young teens. The book also helped reinforce that a lot of what I'm doing is "right."I have made some changes based on suggestions in the book, but realize it takes a lot of work really to alter habits and the way I interact with my children. I believe that taking on board the advice in this book will result in a more loving and open child-parent relationship.I did find the book a bit redundant and I felt that some of the exercises were a bit silly, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5, but I do recommend this book for any parent looking for ways to build a better relationship with his/her child.

This book changed my life in 2005 when I was going through a divorce with two young children who really only remember Mommy telling daddy to leave. Life as we all new it was changed and the kids became very difficult - this book opened up my eyes to not only deal with my children but has taught me life long lessons about how to talk to people so they will listen. The exercises opened my eyes to just how changing how I worded a sentence to someone could change how they responded to what I was asking. I now recommend this book to every single parent I meet. I made this purchase to have an extra on hand because I lend my other one out so often. I would purchase this book again and again.
