Great book for discussing important issues with your child (9-12 years)
My 11 year old son chose the book randomly in a bookstore this Summer and we as a family have all loved it! The story is about a young Syrian refugee who is trying to settle in his new life in UK but has to face other challenges his new life and friendships bring. The author has done a tremendous job balancing some very serious issues (war, fear, loss of family members, peer pressure) from the viewpoint of a very enlightened student who wants to get to know him better in the hope of becoming friends. Truly a heart-warming story that children and adults alike, could learn a lot from.
