Effective, priced OK, low body impact, not too noisy
I bought this several months ago but got sidetracked on things so could not open it up and use it. Today was the first time I unboxed it and gave it a go. I have used rented demo jackhammers in the past and they are heavy and beat the heck out of you over time. I like the weight and the not-as-aggressive hammering action. I used it for maybe half an hour today, using all the bits that came with it, and it did not shake me to death. The bits are easy to change in and out, and the pointed tool broke up a 10" circular 3/8 aggregate concrete post platform without too much trouble. The spade bit digs into this rocky ground nicely, and only once did I manage to dig the tool a bit too deep into the concrete, making it a bit harder to extract. But shifting it to an angle and hammering allowed me to get it unstuck. The case fits all the parts nicely, and it comes with oil to fill it up the first time. Adding the oil is not too bad.Overall a good deal so far, worth the cost and not a problem to handle and do the work.UPDATE:Been about a year and I have used this a few times now. Works well, no issues. It will take a bit to chew through some concrete but it will get the job done. Makes digging up some areas in this engineered land (with huge rocks all throughout) much easier.

A solid tool
I'm a bit of tool snob. It took me awhile to talk myself into buying this jack hammer, but the price was right and the reviews were good. I figured if I just made it through my current project, it would be a success. I want to let any other doubters out there know that this is a solid tool. I expect to have it around for years. I've now used it to break up and haul 20 yds of hardpan clay. The oil level has barely gone down, the tool works wonderfully. It seems like it can take a lot of abuse, and the mechanism is very simple. Simple generally means less to break and easier to repair when something does break. My kit also came with a cheap pair of gloves and safety glasses. But what you really need is some ear protection. The oil that came with it was a joke. It looked like some sort of prehistoric tar. I just put some fresh 15-40 in and everything was good. After awhile, I rotated the plate on the end so that the shovel bit would be oriented a different direction, but that was easy to do. As it's broken in with use, the "getting it started by picking up and dropping down" phenomenon has gotten much better. You do have to keep some pressure on it for it to work, I think it'd be very tough to use in anything but a vertical orientation. There are some parts in the fit and finish that remind you it isn't the expensive Bosch, but nothing that affects the functionality of this beast. I highly recommend it.

Heavy duty
This is much heavier duty than I thought, but that's not a bad thing. I have not used it yet but the 3 stars is for the cheap case it came in. The case was beat to heck when I opened the box. Dents all over and the latches are all bent up. It was double packed, but it's so heavy, I'm sure it just got banged around. The styrofoam inside the metal case did very little to protect it. I'll have to build a case to haul it around as this case is shot! They'd be better off to have a plastic case molded for this unit. Also it did not come with any safety glasses or gloves as the picture shows. I have a job in TN in three weeks to try it out. I'll be back and update on how it does.Update Dec. 2011 - Wow! It does the job. I'm digging out a crawl space in TN and used the spade bit to break up the hard clay and rock. I used the chisel bit to break up two 24" x 24" x 12" deep concrete footers and it worked really well. I was surpirised. This is a keeper for sure! Forget about the cheap case, I built my own case out of light plywood. This thing is worth the money so I changed my rating to four stars...

Cant be beat for the price!!!
The jackhammer came a few weeks ago and finally had the chance to test it out during my week off.First, the product came super fast and they have corrected complaints from earlier reviews by providing a nice thick plastic case with wheels for transport. Similar to carry on luggage. The unit itself was more greenish as opposed to the grey ones i have seen. Looks great. After unboxing I noticed there were some oil stains and the instructions actually werent too bad. Looks like a knock off of the more expensive hitachi unit. The instructions even tell you to use hitachi replacement parts. I unscrewed the oil port and filled it up with 5w30 motor oil as it was empty. Then attached the breaker point bit and headed out to the backyard. The previous owner of my home decided to pour an 8 inch thick slab for a small shed in the back of the yard. No clue why a sheet metal shed needed 8 inches of concrete but it had to go. Luckily there was no rebar in it. But even then this machine would have handled it. Best bet is as one reviewer stated and go with grapefruit sized chunks.I worked for about and hour and half at a time on three different days so i would annoy my neighbors too much. The whole slab is now in pieces. I am very please with my purchase. Worked great and no issues so far. It has already paid for itself. A few years ago i rented a bosch and this one worked just as well. Next up is the really weird pentagon patio the former owner put in and then possibly a french drain. I am glad i bought the spade but as well.Update:I broke up the patio and it worked well. About 6 inches thick with reinforcement. I also broke up a small walk way that was only three to 4 inches thick with no reinforcement. That was amazingly easy compared to the other projects. If i had to break up big slabs every day I would buy a better unit. But for what I have done this cannot be beat. If you are a weekend DIY'er def pick this up.

Works great
I bought this product to use as a portable digging tool that could be packed around on ATV's etc and powered by a 2000 generator. This unit works excellent for that purpose, it chews through frozen clay/gravel no problem, even busted up a concrete fence post with the chisel tip. Used it for six hard days so far with no signs of anything crapping out, for the price its great.

Solid Tool
It is a beast! Great tool for the price. It did exactly what I needed it to. Not something I'll use weekly but I have it for the next project! The 3 tools were very helpful also.

Does what it sets out to do.
It works like it is supposed to do, so far. I use it to mitigate roots and concrete when installing fences and am pleased with its performance. I guess time will be the true test now.

Worth the money
I was a bit skeptical before buying this as it is way cheaper compared to some big names. I need to open up basement floor to install footer drain tile for a water problem. As it is the first time I tried using a jack hammer, it took me a while to get used to it and after that, it became pretty smooth. The flat tip chisel is more useful for my project.
