Interesting assembly process. Works well with proper sized can inside for recyclables.

Having read the reviews of this product, I was very concerned about the assembly—and I had very good reason to be. It came in about a million different pieces, the instructions were just not good, and they really rely way too much on wood glue. That being said, I decided to chance it. While the piece took between 3 and 4 hours to put together, I am actually pretty happy with the finished product. It’s sturdier than I thought it would be, given all the damn glue, and it has succeeded in keeping my idiot dogs out of the idiot trash. It doesn’t look cheap and goes pretty well with the kitchen, which has nice cabinets. The cutting block comes not finished, but I treated it with some mineral oil, as suggested in the instructions, and it looks great. Some people said they had a tough time finding the right size garbage can, but the one Amazon suggested I buy along with it was a perfect fit. My biggest complaint would be the time it took to ship. It was supposed to ship within a couple of days, but I contacted the company after a full week and they said it would ship the following week. Ultimately it took almost two weeks from the day I ordered till it arrived, which isn't entirely unreasonable for furniture pieces, but they should've been more realistic in the description. The person at the company who responded to me was very unconcerned and dismissive about the delay didn't even apologize. But whatever...it got here, I managed to assemble it, and my dogs haven't gotten into the trash once since. Yay!

worst thing I've ever bought on line - really. I'm pretty good at assembly, but this thing is literally held together by glue (and they don't provide enough wood glue so be sure to purchase some of your own). The assembly instructions are not clear so be careful and dont' get ahead of yourself. When I emailed for assistance, I got rude replies about what I had done wrong, no concern for the need for clearer instructions or perhaps a bit more robust design. The butcher block piece was a bit warped, it is supposed to attach with dowels and , you guessed it, more glue, by that time you are out of glue!. When you are buying an extra bottle of wood glue, go ahead and pick up some butcher block sealer - you will need it. I would not recommend this - if there was a "negative star" I would choose that.
