Paul Morphy Series Premium Staunton 3.5" Chess Pieces

Adquirí el producto buscando calidad material y artística. En ambos puntos he quedado conforme, la madera en las piezas blancas se aprecia con el dibujo de la beta realmente hermoso, la madera utilizada, por sí misma, es un bellísimo material. La Torre está pulida incluso en la zona superior, lo cual suma calidad al conjunto. Los Caballos están en general bien tallados y solo puedo señalar un detalle en uno de los míos: no es completamente simétrico en el detalle de los ojos. Son robustos pero se ven bien proporcionados. Finalmente, el producto se envía muy bien embalado. Tema aparte y a tener en cuenta es el pago extra de importación que tuve que cancelar, que alcanzó un 50% del valor del producto, lo que me habría gustado que quedase claro al momento de realizar la compra a través de Amazon y evitar la desagradable sorpresa.

These chessmen are pretty similar to the top online retailers, but at a lower cost. The carving and finish on my set is very good. No visible tool or clamp marks or other defects were found. And it is an attractive looking set in my opinion. It fits well on my dark walnut and maple board with 2 inch squares. As far as the dimensions and proportions of the pieces, well I guess that the queen, bishop and rook could be just a little taller. I do like that the pawns don't look like every other set I have. And yes the knights are robust, as another reviewer stated, but they look awesome, although they could be a little smaller to match the set.All in all a nice set and a good value for the price, and in the USA, this set did come with free shipping.

In general, the pieces look great, however there are several very obvious problems you should be aware of before actually spending your hard earned money on this set:1-The knights are incredibly fat, actually they are the fattest knights I have ever seen, seriously! Unfortunately it is impossible to notice this on the pictures provided by the seller because there is no front view, .2-On the other hand, the queens are too small, they could and should be 0.5 centimeters taller. The current size makes them look weak and feel powerless when placed next to other pieces.3-Finally, the pawns are way too thin, which creates a strange contrast because the base is quite broad so, every time you take a pawn it feels like you are lifting a weightless stick attach to a broad base.All these things combined are the reason for the 3 out of 5 stars. It is a shame because otherwise this could be the best 3.5 inch King set ever, period... too bad.UPDATE: I uploaded a picture of one white knight. Could another buyer please confirm if his knights also are 1.1 inches wide?

Beautiful chess set for the money. Exactly what I had hoped for. Notwithstanding, the seller needs to sort out their ‘free’ delivery. Price included delivery from India so it is impossible to separate the true cost of the chess set from the delivery costs. Happy to pay any bone fida custom tax charged by UK tax authorities. Not willing to pay random unsubstantiated sums invoiced after delivery by delivery company that I am not in contract with.
