Lonely Planet Best of India: top sights, authentic experiences (Travel Guide)

not impressed
I travel to india a lot and this seems a bit basic - would recommend the full India lonely planet rather than this. Almost wish I hadn't bothered buying it.Probably ok for someone who is planning one trip to a number of destinations. But not for in-depth travel.

Good starting point
This reads along the same lines as the D&K top 10 travel guides, it's aimed at the average tourist and not those looking to backpack or spend an extended period of time in India. The information is clear and condensed with enough to cover the main attractions of each area, the advantage of this is the book size, it's about a third of the full lonely planet India book; this means it's actually usable as a travel book in a shoulder bag or day sack.If you're planning a 1 to 3 in India then this book is a great place to start or a good supplement to the full guide, for extended trips get the full lonely planet book.
