MudGear Pro-Grade Compression Socks - Men's and Women's athletic knee high socks for running sports, performance, recovery, hiking outdoor trails, or rucking in military boots with strong construction and a padded calf. Made in the USA. Tested by top elite OCR athletes, the full length MudGear Compression Obstacle Race sock is a tribute to the nasty gashes suffered by OCR racers at the hands of long rope traverses and painful slides across rusty metal poles. This is the only compression sock we know about that is built with a layer of padding on the lower leg and calf that protects from rope burn and other injuries. The difference comes from 168 needlepoint compression construction with a tougher yarn that provides good compression with superior abrasion resistance compared to gym quality compression socks and sleeves. The back of the calf features an extra layer of protection that still drains well and remains light for long distance courses. The high-quality constructions makes thes socks perfect for nurses, maternity wear, relief of shin splints, calf pain. Often prescribed for medical conditions like varicose veins. Used frequently in other sports like soccer, field hockey, ice hockey, motorcross, and rucking in military boots.

Took a licking but did NOT keep on ticking!
I am an avid competitor. Road running, triathlons, trail races, obstacles races, you name it. I also own a side business which teaches people how to run obstacle courses. I test products frequently and make recommendations to my clients. After reading amazing reviews of the MudGear Compression Socks I decided to give them a try at my latest race......a Spartan Beast in Vernon NJ on April 29th, 2017. The socks fit really well as the size was just as expected. I laced up my trusty Salomon Speedcross sneakers and started the race. The GOOD: The socks stayed up and never fell down even after 13+ miles. The compression felt good and prevented shin splints. The BAD: I felt like I was getting a blister on my heal but was too much in the zone to stop and take off my shoes mid-race. After the race, I took off my sneakers and was so surprised to SEE BOTH of my heels through the socks!!!!!! The sock completely failed in the heal. See PicsI was very surprised this happened during my first race with the socks. I'm also surprised people review them so well. There are some crazy mountain ascents and decents at Mountain Creek but I have raced here many times before and NEVER experienced this with any socks, ever.I will not recommend these to my clients and would advise people not to purchase if you plan on running long mountain courses. Maybe a 5k sprint would be good but these took a licking but did not keep on ticking. I will be returning

Awesome socks
Just ran another Spartan race in these. Feet remained dry and protected, as did my legs, through mud, sweat, water, rocks, and tears. These socks are the BEST. THANK YOU MUDGEAR!Update- still love them and am doing another race with them soon. Remain awesome socks!Bought these about a month ago in prep for the Spartan Race at Blue Mountain, PA. I bought them specifically to prevent any injuries from the rope obstacles (Traverse and rope climb) since they have the extra padding at the back of the sock. First, the socks are super comfortable. I've never worn compression socks before and I was really surprised at how comfortable they are. I began wearing them for training the day I got them to ensure they would work for the race. I ran a ton of miles in them on the road, trail running, through streams, up hills, tons of burpees.....and they performed great. They did not hold water and were not heavy after getting them wet. They did not allow fine particles (mud or dust) to get in around my feet. They never even slipped down during all the training.Race day was last Saturday. They performed extremely well. They proved their worth with the traverse and rope climb. With the traverse, I simply put my legs around the rope and pulled. My calf got a little warm from the friction but I had absolutely no mark whatsoever on either calf. I saw someone else do the same without these socks and got a terrible rope burn. The rope climb the socks helped when coming back down. The rope wrapped a bit around my leg but the socks protected me. Again, they also held no weight after getting wet, did not allow the little particles of dirt through to my feet even through the tons of mud and muddy water that was present, and were super comfortable. My feet and calves felt great after the race.I inspected the socks really well after washing them post the race. You can see a little bit of wear at the back but are otherwise in fantastic shape for the abuse I have put them through.I would highly recommend them and I'll be buying another pair or two.

Poor durability
Alright, so these socks. I ordered these because what MudGear described was essentially an ideal sock for OCRs and everywhere I looked from professional reviews to customer reviews gave glowing reviews. Unfortunately I can't provide another one of those reviews.Okay, so first the good and the okay. They have a very nice fit and were not uncomfortable when running while they were soaked in mud. They seem to have less compression then the other two compression sock brands that I own and I can't say if compression-wise that is a good or a bad thing. Also they stay up when wet and muddy and apparently not all compression socks do that however the other brands I own do as well. In the short time that these were serviceable for me I did not get to test the reinforced kevlar marketing as the Spartan I ran didn't have the traverse and I hadn't encountered anything else that I was having a lot of friction on the back of the sock.So now the bad. I ordered these on May 17th, 2017 and got to use these for four races before the heel blew out on both socks. I inspected and hand-washed with nikwash after a Tough Mudder, a 5k trail race and a Savage Race. After the Savage Race I noticed a small (still disappointing) amount of wear on the right heel. Yesterday I ran a Spartan Super and after the race the heel that had some wear was completely worn out and the other was well on its way.At the end of the day I pretty disappointed in these because I had high hopes because of marketing, others' reviews, and price. If these weren't marketed for OCR durability and were $10/pair it would be a toss up between 3 and 4 stars. Sadly these are advertised to hold up and they cost $30/pair so for that I have to give it 1 star.

I Believe!! 🏃🏻👍🏻💪🏻
Shipping was slow or I was really excited about receiving them. Don't care to remember because I'm so happy with them!! After getting shin splints when returning to road running last year, I said to myself I would buy compression socks. After shopping around and finding boring looking ones and expensive ones(50.00 a pair), I looked on Amazon and found these by MudGear! I bought two sets. One for training and another for race day. I took them out for a run and hike in preparation for the Into The Wild Trail Run. I hiked and ran for 12 miles with a noticeable amount of fatigue reduction! I wore them for the rest of the day while eating and playing with pets, etc.. The next day I woke up feeling great! I didn't pay the price for running hard!! I'm a believer!

Durable and Great Compression!
Love these socks. Incredibly durable and they provide fantastic compression. Although they are thicker, I’ve never felt overheated by them, even during 16-mile trail runs in the...

Race-Tested and Incredibly Solid
I bought these for a Tough Mudder. I have other pairs of compression socks, but wanted ones that were mud-resistant.

Good fit but not sure about durability
I have now bought two pairs of these. I love the color and design of these. I was disappointed with my first pair and how quickly a hole developed in the heel.

Good but wear out quickly
They fit great and are nicely snug, but they wearing out after only a few mud runs. The toe is starting to wear through and calf has a lot of pilling from traversing a rope.

Thats a No go!
High friction conductor and both pairs ripped when putting them on. There is no hot spots, which is amazing, but if you have to run down a hill get ready for that friction burn...
