Classic
A good remake of the classic! Savini did a great job of directing and the effects of course!

A surprisingly faithful remake to the original 1968 Romero classic.
Honestly I can not remember when I finally saw this version but as I became an instant fan of the original Romero classic from the 60's when I first saw it at the age of 10, I never imagined that this version could ever possibly live up to it but upon hearing of my top most favorite gore effects wizard of Tom "Sex Machine" Savini being the director I was ready to check it out. So, whatever age I was when I originally saw this movie, I was pleasantly surprised by how well this version adapted its source material. Now upon purchasing and seeing it once again for my 3rd time(this time on Bluray), I can better sort out where this movie works and even in a few small places where it doesn't work. All told though this a solid rendition more than not.First let's talk about the characters and the actor's performances as them:Tony "Candyman" Todd in a pre-Candyman role, of course, was excellent as Ben and in my opinion between his performance and the way that the character was written neither deviated from Duane Jones's excellent performance nor did Tony try to one-up Duane either. I personally find Patricia Tallman's performance of Barbara to be far better than Judith O'Dea's performance plus, this time Barbara gets to be like Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor character in both the first Terminator and the second the very next year after this movie, plus just like Sarah, this Barbara is beautiful, smart, resourceful, and also very sexy. I hated however what they did with Harry Cooper as in the original he was a control freak and a big pain in the neck but at least he had some sense of humanity in that he loved and cared for both his wife and his infected daughter deeply. Unfortunately, this Harry Cooper proved not only to be a gigantic creep and pain in the neck but also he was a control freak and less than loving towards his wife and daughter. His wife Helen Cooper I felt wasn't changed dramatically though. Tom is still a likable and sympathetic character that you can get behind. Tom's girlfriend Judy Rose was originally just as sweet, likable and sympathetic but unfortunately in this version she's bossy, pushy, she lectures people too much when she's a total coward, her screaming is grating on the nerves and above all, she's just plain worthless and annoying this time. There's not much to say about Johnnie or Sarah Cooper as they aren't greatly developed characters here either. Also, Johnnie is out of the picture quicker this time.

Underrated
This film has flown under the radar since it was released. I believe audiences were turned off by it being a remake of a true genre classic. Well, they don't know what they're missing. This is a bit more graphic, but stays along the lines of the original. It's extremely well done and delivers on the scares. Patricia Tallman in the lead is fantastic as she changes from frightened to determined over the course of the film. If you're a "dead" fan or just a horror movie fan, this will keep you entertained from beginning to end. Sidenote - this is directed by make-up maestro Tom Savini.

A Classic Horror Movie for HD Devices
I know there are die hard fans of the original black and white version but THIS is the version I grew up watching and now I don't cringe watching it on HD televisions. This copy is great quality and the move is totally enjoyable to watch.

The ORIGINAL maybe better. BUT...
.... I Remember seeing the DVD cover on a add pamphlet to a video store. Didn't have a thought for it yet. But, love the art. In 2012, I only seen 7 minutes of it then stopped. Just got bored. Then a few or so years later, It was put on the top ten of the best Horror Remakes. So, I gave it one more chance. And I enjoyed it. The original will always be the best. But, just in this remake's way, seeing the characters react more realistic from the zombies and how the zombies crave, it's like 😬&😱 So it's worth at least one watch for remake poopers. Lol. I give this remake ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great condition, Classic Remake
Item arrived in great condition, been running it on a PS2 and CRT in the game room.In terms of a movie review, it's the best remake i've ever seen. It sticks close to the source material but mixes it up just enough. Kind of reminds me of how the Resident Evil 1 video game remake was now that i think about it. Savini did a great job here. The actors all did a good job especially the leads, and they look similar to the original 1968 classic.Zombies look fantastic, the farmhouse location is perfect. It's a real farmhouse that's still standing and still looks pretty much exactly the same. It just has a lot of atmosphere, the score fits it perfectly. Definitely recommend.OH and a bonus for the special features on the DVD edition. I recommend it over the Bluray for that reason and also a brighter and more natural lighting. The Bluray has a blue tint, the picture is less grainy but it's a BIG tradeoff.
