They work
First time in 15 years, we saw rodent dropping in our finished clean and toasty basement crawlspace and connected HVAC utility closet. I knew from the size of the droppings that this was not a tiny mouse or even a chipmunk coming in from the sudden cold. We also have a spick and span basement/HVAC closet, so there is no food source unless the rodent wants to eat fiberglass insulation or cement. It came for the warmth, not food, which is why we've not had any before over the years. Wishful thinking had me imaging it was tiny and so i bought the little, plastic mouse traps that lock and load a small bar that snaps down. Pffft. Those are for the teeny tiniest rodent, not the size rodent most people deal with. So, nothing for 2 days but more big droppings. No choice but to face reality and buy these larger, stronger rat traps, baited again with a teaspoon of peanut butter. Next day...one 6" rat had met his end, quickly and apparently without unnecessary pain. (i.e. the bait cup is precisely located.) I've zero interest in handling the trap and rat, so into a dustpan, then double plastic bag and the outside trash can it all went. Where there is one rodent, there is usually two or more. The good news is that none of the other traps have tripped and we've seen no more droppings (I swept up the old ones.) Peace of mind is a nice thing to have, except that now I have to figure out how Mr. Rat got in.

Powerful and effective traps
I have been battling the large rat that comes down to my living room in search of food for the past one week. His nocturnal adventures are faithfully recorded by my video monitor. Initially I put out the Tom Cat Rat trap using peanut butter as a bait. For some reasons the top part of the peanut butter was consumed but the trap did not activate. Next I used Tom Cat station containing green bromethalin blocks. The rat ate about one third of a green block for three consecutive nights without appearing to suffer any ill effects. It was as energetic as ever. I started to wonder if bromethalin resistance has become a problem in the local rat population, though nothing much is mentioned about bromethalin resistance from my web search. Finally last night I started using these ABC Plastic Mouse Traps using NEOGEN RODENTICIDE Havoc Mouse and Rat Killer as the bait. I put out three traps in total. Within hours, I heard a loud snap, followed by squeaks and noises. I turned on the light and found the claws of the trap tightly gripping the neck of the rat that is struggling in vain. This scene is not for the faint-hearted. I quickly put the rat in a big bucket of water and soon the silence is restored.

I’d say this is the perfect RAT trap. Emphasis on RAT!
I mean what can I say? This thing snaps and and thats that. For the rat. They are solidly build, easy to use and a damn good value I’d say. You can cover a lot of ground with 6 traps. I would say they are too big for the typical mouse but there are plenty of other similar products that are a smaller here on amazon and that wasn’t the cause in my research for rat size traps. Not at this value anyway. I don’t see how you can beat these for catching any common size, even large rat. So unless you have some kind of irradiated mutant evolved giant rodent this is going to do the job. We just moved into a house that had a problem so I got these and I set up the 6 and caught 3 within an hour. I expect more once the sun goes down. If you want to guarantee that you will catch your rat just use good bait (I’ve never seen peanut butter fail) and use these traps. Winner.

Less than 24 hour results!
I bought these traps when we started noticing... Droppings in our basement and kitchen.I unboxed them and, while they seemed well made, I was skeptical. How could something made of plastic like this do the job? They also seemed a tab big, but I guess that's also for other rodents...So I set them up with a little bread and peanut butter in the little cup like the instructions say and left them.Next morning... Nothing. Okay, maybe it takes more time. Later in the afternoon, my wife heard a snap, but we weren't sure where it came from. An hour ago, I checked all the traps. Nothing for the one in the basement under the couch or under the sink. Then I checked the one in the drawer. BAM!! The trap had caught the little brown bastard that had been leaving presents for us in dark areas. It didn't look like he'd suffered. The trap almost decapitated him, so it was likely an instant death.I'm any case, I'm satisfied with the results. I'll be keeping these traps around. They really work.See for yourself, even the negative reviews admit they work, just not entirely humanely. Well... I didn't experience that, so I'm happy.

Easy, quick and effective!
I have had this product 1 day and i already love it. I had a few concerns which were taken care of by this mouse trap.1. Ease of use: the compartment for the bait comes out of the bottom, so you don't have to risk snapping your fingers while using it. The trap is easy to set and you know that it is set (or sprung) based on whether or not you can see the bright yellow "mouse trap sticker" on the back so there is no guessing if it ready to go or not.2. My dog: my dog likes peanut butter and i was worried that he might get caught. The trap is positioned away (toward a crack, crevass or wall) so my dog would have to be pretty aggressive to get to it. Luckily, he is not.3. Ease of clean up. After setting ot 4 traps last night, one was caught this morning. I easily picked it up by the opposite side and carried it to the bin without ever coming close to the mouse.Easy, quick, effective and not messy. Exactly what I needed.

Caught 10min after trap set!
Wow. These things are no joke. Was horrified to see a rather large rodent in my house and bought a what I thought was am appropriately sized glue trap and baited it with peanut butter. This jerk Mission Impossibled the pb off, chewed a nice hold in it and pooped on it for good measure.Discovered these on Amazon and bought immediately thx to the reviews. At 230pm, I set 2 in the bottom kitchen cabinet I suspected my uninvited guest to be frequenting (pb bait again) and then started washing the dishes. Was hoping to have success in the morning....10 min in and I hear a snap and rattle that made me jump. Sure enough, he was apprehended in the tightly closed jaws of this trap! Now to get the nerve to put the whole thing in the trash.....yuck.
