The directions were clear and it was relatively easy to put together by myself. They say you need a second person, but I didn't. It seems sturdy and looks great! You could use it either vertically or horizontally.

I bought this shelving unit in white. It was super simple to put together. Took about an hour total (which I did by myself as a 24 year old female) however it came in two separate parts which I wasn’t expecting. The bottom unit are the two bottom selves (which are taller then the other shelves) and the top unit are the top three selves. Then you kinda screw them together to make one larger unit. However you can definitely tell... the quality is low but that’s okay considering it’s only in my office. It comes with weight limits for the shelves too. Bottom and third can hold 50lbs. Second, fourth, and fifth can only hold 35lbs. Just some good info to know before you buy!All in all I’m happy with the product for the amount of money it costs!

We ordered this bookcase to act as a simple display cabinet for our lounge, primarily showing off nerdy figures and collectibles. I was a little concerned by some negative reviews and the low price point, however the shelves were easy to put together (our 12 year-old daughter did so with ease in around half an hour) and are very elegant and sturdy. Highly recommended.

This is a very solid bookcase that was fairly easy to put together. It's recommended for two people to assemble, but I don't think that's really necessary. The instructions are very clear, although Ikea-like in that it's all pictures and very few words. You will need a screwdriver; the instructions say you need a hammer for the dowels, but they slid in without any problems and I never found I needed a hammer at all. I did, however, make use of my cordless drill towards the end to screw in the side panels because that was a lot faster. All in all, it took me about an hour and a half to unpack everything and put everything together, but I wasn't really rushing myself at all. After assembly, the bookcase was too heavy for me to lift up to move (I'm a 5'3" weakling), so I "walked" it to the corner I wanted to place it in by lifiting and sliding forward one side at a time.Functionality wise, it's pretty sturdy. It's just a hair too wide for the corner I placed it in, but that was my fault for measuring from the wall and not the baseboard trim. I'm using this bookcase to store and organize my yarn collection and my crochet accessories, and it's working pretty well for the purpose. I especially like the different sizes of the shelves, as it gives everything a more interesting look while still being very organized.

The cheapest and most fragile light-duty shelves I've yet assembled. Not even close to the strength and quality of similar products from the big blue Swedish place, but the low price tempted me since these are only for one-time use in the basement. Be careful to lay the boards on the floor as shown in the instructions to minimize the chance of breaking the cheap junky particle board. Also a good idea to have some corner braces on hand for emergency repair or even just better stability. Use every last nail for the cardboard backing, which also adds stability. Don't plan on moving them much, if at all, and probably not a good product for a child's bedroom/playspace due to fragility.

Just got this today. I've got a lot of experience putting things together so I didn't hesitate to buy this unit. What I found, however, was less than "good enough" quality. When assembling, read the instructions carefully beforehand and don't necessarily go by what they say because they can be a little confusing. Also, the manufacturer provided plastic parts rather than the standard metal joiners. It makes it more difficult to correct mistakes. Overall, they are good shelves for the price, but had they had better joiners, I would have given 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a beautiful book case and very sturdy. The open back makes the room look bigger and its perfect for a room divider.

I bought this item in October and it collapsed the bottom gave out. The books that were on the shelves were way under the weight limit on each.

Leans pretty awfully, but get's the job done and keeps all my books up. Set up took a while too. I probably wouldn't buy this again if I wanted a nice looking bookshelf.
