This is definitely not "made out of" lead. If you want to know what lead is, go to your local sporting goods store and find fishing sinkers. Prop65 makes everything sound poisonous, when in reality the state of California simply forces many goods sold there to be tested for lead and certified not to contain it, or to carry the label "may contain lead".It's conceivable they're using lead or lead/graphite (like a pencil lead) as a dry lubricant in the barrel to ensure smooth operation. If you're sticking this thing in your mouth, yeah you might want to be concerned, otherwise just wash your hands. The tool is not magnetic in any way, but it's too heavy to be aluminum, and way too hard to be lead or tin. (lead is soft enough to write with on plain paper, and is a dark, dull looking metal). Without doing a displacement density test, I believe it to be some type of stainless alloy, probably, mostly nickel.This tool works smoothly and predictably. I use it for handling small parts when fixing electronics. The little prongs grasp firmly, but won't puncture ribbon cables used in a lot of electronics. It's not a high-precision instrument, and I don't know how long it will last, but at this price I'm willing to take a chance with it.

These work very well. All metal. I've bought two of them. Price reasonable.

Is able to pick up gems big and small to allow viewing. Holds firmly and safely.

Bought this to try and help change a lip piercing and it worked just fine that purpose
