Golden Safflower Bird Seed, 20-Pound Bag

The birds love this golden safflower seed. They eat is as much as they eat black oil sunflower. It is so fresh you can smell the lovely fragrance when you open the bag.

Last year, the birds seemed sort of indifferent to the white safflower seeds I offered them. This year it’s like a Christmas basement sale at the safflower side of the feeder.

A new cardinal pair has shown up since we have put the newest golden safflower seeds into our feeder. That would be our fourth cardinal family if they hang around. We love that the Blue Jays give the cardinals right-of-way. Now, the two woodpeckers? They do as they please, whenever they please. Apparently all the birds love the "golden" meals we offer.

The winter birds in Minnesota love the "Golden Safflower". No squirrels, but I do get chipmunks & rabbits that enjoy the fallen seeds. It is hard to find at the local hardware store and the farm supply stores run out of it a lot. This seed order is fulfilled by a garden & landscape store that is local to me, but having it delivered via my prime membership is a bonus for us both.

I was looking for a bigger bag of golden safflower because I seem to have teenage birds that eat like horses. Crossing my fingers and surrounded by angry, hungry birds, I decided to take a chance on this product. Success! The birds love it! I think they told all of their buddies and now all of the finches, chickadees, and other desirable birds on the planet party in my back yard all day long. If you like peace and quiet, don’t order this product - it attracts a ton of birds. But it keeps the blue jays and squirrels away, and it’s lower mess than seed mixes because the birds seem to eat every grain. I normally don’t write reviews, but the birds asked me to give it five stars so that other feeders start stocking the same seed.

I've been using this seed in my feeders for several years now and it's the only seed that keeps the larger aggressive birds away and allows my finches and cardinals and other songbirds to peacefully dine at my feeders! They love this seed and I love all the birds! I also have a finch feeder and a suet feeder for the woodpeckers and they all love this seed a well.
