Helpful pregnancy book for vegan-specific issues
I bought this book shortly after finding out I was pregnant (as well as a few others). I've been a vegan for over five years, so I didn't expect to find too much new information but rather to use this book as a resource for vegan pregnancy-specific nutritional information. Some sections seem to be more geared to the newly vegan or those who want to better understand the vegan diet (ex. the reasons for going vegan and the section about finding vegan food at the supermarket). As for nutritional information, this book has lots of great suggestions for getting each nutrient that is especially important for vegans during pregnancy (protein, iron, zinc, vitamin b12, folate, calcium, vitamin D, DHA, etc.). There is also lots of good information on staying healthy during pregnancy, including food safety specifically for vegans, food safety for vegans who live with non-vegans and tips on camping/hiking while pregnant. There was also a lot of general pregnancy information, although it's not nearly as detailed as the week-by-week type pregnancy books. I would recommend getting at least one other pregnancy book in addition to this one if you want week-by-week information or extra information about all the different body changes during pregnancy. The last 100 pages or so has recipes, but I haven't tried any of them yet. This is mostly because I often cook without recipes and when I do use recipes, I have a large collection of vegan cookbooks to choose from. The recipes seem about on-par with how healthy the food I normally prepare is (lots of variety of grains, beans, veggies, fruit). However, I tend to use less oil than some of these recipes call for (ex. the Pad Thai recipe that "serves 4" calls for 1/4 cup of oil to fry a pound of tofu...I would probably use half that much or less.)Overall, this book is a great resource for vegan-specific issues during pregnancy, but I think most people will want at least one other pregnancy book for more detailed information.

Great advice even being a vegan for a few years !
Great book - a lot of reviews bash it but being a vegan for 3 years doesn’t make me a pro on what a baby and craving wife needs ! This book gives advice from nutrition to how to react to silly comments from meat eaters... recommended to family and friends - will be a hand me down once we are done with it !

Ehhh
This book is ehhhh. The printing looks very cheap and the font is very light. It wasn’t really what I was expecting. I think it woulda been a lot more useful to talk about foods that are necessary in the development of your body and child and what should be done throughout each trimester or even each week. It gave an introduction to being vegan I don’t think it’s a good idea for new mothers to all of sudden turn vegan during pregnancy. There’s a lack of experience of what to eat and food pairing and just a lack of knowledge. I personally just expected more from the book due to the way a YouTuber recommended it. It’s a lot of information in the book I just get more value from other resources.

Informative and excellent recipes
I've made many of the recipes in the book and everyone is always impressed! I've also referred back to the book's information sections on diet throughout my pregnancy.

Good for those who have no prior knowledge
This book is great for beginners, but not that great for a vegan who already has basic knowledge about diet, nutrition and pregnancy. If you buy this book, I would recommend reading it before other pregnancy books. It is a great introduction to the whole experience and has a nice, gentle tone. I appreciate how forgiving the author is, and how she advocates health without sacrificing your sanity. The tidbits on nutrition were helpful, however my favorite part of the book was the advice on how to deal with people around me questioning by diet choices. Other reviewers noted the recipes-I have yet to try them because my kitchen is already full of vegan cookbooks. I was really just looking for vegan information specific to pregnancy and I must say that it is limited. Most of the book focuses on pregnancy in general and covers all the basics like what not to consume, pregnancy symptoms, labor and delivery, breastfeeding and many other things I've already learned from other books, my doctor or the internet.Pros: great for vegan beginners or those new to pregnancy, gentle and supportive tone, simple and easy to remember nutrition information, great advice for dealing with those who question the vegan diet, great introductory tool to pregnancy, labor and delivery and the breastfeeding process, lots of recipes, appendix with other sources of informationCons: Little benefit to seasoned vegans with a general nutrition background, no real in-depth information and very brief, covers many of the basics noted in every other pregnancy resource, doesn't really cover "everything vegan" as promised

A good resource for vegan moms to be.
Though this book wasn't as scientific as I was hoping for, there are plenty of great recipes for healthy nutrition for vegan pregnant mamas. This was a pretty quick read, and a lot of the information in it is helpful for people who are unfamiliar with a proper balanced vegan diet. I was hoping there would be more statistics, charts, and "nerding out" but it was a good, basic, book for pregnancy if you are vegan. Most of what it had I already knew from reading non-vegan pregnancy books and from already being a vegan with a balanced diet, so that's why it wasn't 5 stars. Great for new vegans who plan to do a vegan pregnancy though.

Better than 'What to Expect'
I bought this and What To Expect When Expecting: Your Ultimate Pregnancy Guide (*Special Edition*)  at the same time. I returned What to Expect the next day. It simply wasn't as informative as this ebook. This book goes into more details and helps you figure out what it is you need to be thinking about since, as it turns out, a health-conscious vegan doesn't have a whole lot of changes to make in the dietary department.

1/3rd diet 2/3rds other.
I only needed the first few chapters, but I'm sure some women may need the rest. One thing I wish is that they had a little more on diet. It was only about 1/3rd of the book. Maybe less.

Disappointing and not motivating or helpful
Didn't work for me at all. As a dedicated vegan the last thing you want to read in your first trimester is what it means to be vegan - the whole first chapter is about animal rights. I wanted clear, motivating help in a time when I was emotional and eating habits were all over the place. If explains the basics of vegan nutrition but nothing overly helpful or different to what you can find online. Something more down to earth would have been good. Considering writing an alternative myself ! Love to all those pregnant and vegan!

Lots of Information
This book is a must-have for anyone following a vegan diet or lifestyle, both at preconception and for during pregnancy. It has helped me to prepare nutritionally for getting pregnant, ensuring that my diet is healthy and varied. It has also helped me to feel more confident about maintaining optimum nutritional levels during pregnancy. The book doesn't just solely focus on nutrition but on wider vegan subjects as well. I haven't yet read the whole book cover to cover because I have just been using the pre-conception sections, but I have skimmed through the entire book and the range and quality of information here seems to be excellent. Although it seems slightly more aimed towards a US audience, it is still perfectly suitable for UK readers and I highly recommend it.The only downside is that there are no pictures or drawings which would have lightened the book up a little more but it is broken down easily in to sections so that you can refer to the section you are looking for with ease. A lot of great advice in one book.
