Can anyone describe the scent of this product?

It's a unique scent of its own, but I would describe it as a very light antiseptic smell, with a hint of lime. Its the same smell you get, when you just leave the barber shop. Its practically the same smell as the Pinaud Clubman Talc.

How does this compare to Vitalis as far as the hold is concerned?

I would say this doesn't have 'hold'. It can help keep hairs from loosening and separating, but it won't keep hair in a shape, or control a cowlick. Vitalis would do this to a degree, without becoming waxy or oily. But with white hair, Vitalis made my hair look green or yellow. Now I use Vo5 for white hair (it's blue) and that does very well.

Can this be used with other hair product like gel or pomade? What would be the best way to use it with them if so?

Yes, I believe it could be used with other products. I would use the Tonic first to freshen your hair and scalp. then use whatever product you want afterwards.
