this is a re release
I have the original book that was published in 1999,2003. The only thing that is different is the bookcover, the front of the book and the publisher. The original publisher in 2003 was Hermes House,London. This one is published in 2013 by the Lorenz Books, in England. The content is still good, in both books it is just what ever one you want to get. They are both the same material, just a newer cover.

I bought both this book and "The Complete Book of Heraldry" and found that they are apparently the same book with different titles. The information is useful as I read one cover to cover but I was disappointed to find the second book an apparent duplicate.

Medieval snobbery
I found this account of the origins and development of coats of arms quite interesting. Originally designed to help warriors in battle armor separate friend from foe, this practice became an elaborate way of tracing family origins and history. It created a new class of essential craftsmen and diplomats and influenced the rituals associated with marriages, funerals, coronations, and even commerce. However there is an extensive and un-intuitive vocabulary associated with heraldry. Despite a glossary at the back, the introduction of archaic terms in early chapters was challenging. The worst feature was the small font used along with a text color that was closer to gray than black. On the plus side, the full color images of various arms and associated parapheranalia, and paintings of medieval pageants were stunning.

It's shipped on Apr.11 and received on Apr.26, faster than I expected. The book is ok but in small size and more expensive compared with the complete book of heraldry. I prefer the latter.

Heraldry and more...
This is a very informative book, not only with regards the details of heraldry and, indeed, the quite unique language, but also because of the historical background right up to present-day scope and involvement. There is a tendency to think of heraldry as something of the past, associated with knights in armour and the like, whereas it is, in fact, very much a living thing with a place in the 21st century.I would have liked to have seen more typical examples and descriptions, but that said, it is a very informative book, and ideal for anyone (like myself) new to the subject.
