Love Letters and Two Other Plays: The Golden Age, What I Did Last Summer (Plume Drama)

I saw the play (“Love Letters”) performed on stage with Robert Wagner and Stephanie Powers many years ago and loved it. I thought it would be nice to have the written words since I so enjoyed the play. And it is nice, but quite frankly, seeing it performed on stage is better than reading it.“The Golden Age” seemed very familiar to me. I don’t know if I’d seen it or not, but I found it much easier to picture a play going on in my head for this story than I did for “Love Letters.”“What I Did Last Summer” was a nice journey back in time, to a time that was before I was born. Everybody’s growing-up time is different, and this was a nice look at one boy’s. ...I guess. ...if this story was about the boy. (That was a neat gimmick in the play: several characters face the audience and state that the story is really about them.)

MY HUSBAND AND I SAW THE PLAY 'LOVE LETTERS' PERFORMED BY MISS MICHAEL LEARNED AND RALPH WAITE. (THE WALTONS). WE LOVED IT!! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT A PLAY, WITH ONLY 2 CHARACTERS, READING LETTERS COULD BE SO WONDERFUL!!! THAT IS WHY I BOUGHT THE BOOK, I WANTED TO EXPERIENCE AGAIN.I WOULD LOVE TO SEE 'THE GOLDEN AGE' COME TO LIFE IN A PLAY. I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT, BUT THEY JUST CAME TO LIFE AS I READ THEM. I FELT LIKE I WAS IN THE ROOM, WATCHING.'WHAT I DID LAST SUMMER' DIDN'T PULL ME IN LIKE THE OTHER TWO, BUT IT'S STILL AN ENJOYABLE READ. WILL DEFINITELY BE LOOKING FOR MORE PLAYS BY A.R. GURNEY.

Love this play since it occurred when I was the same age as the characters

I have been wanting to read Love Letters for years, but I can never seem to find it. I ordered it on Amazon and I am so happy I did. I love it. The story was heartwrenching and beautiful. I recommend it to anyone.

A set of very engaging plays. Gurney writes with a keen ear to how words play on the imagination. He has a talent for compassionate nuance and subtle irony.

I saw it referred to a number of times in my readings.It was worth purchasing and reading.I gave a copy to my son-in-law who is a professor of literature at an eastern college.

Je cherchais depuis longtemps ces pièces de Gurney. Heureusement que je sais parfaitement lire l'anglais, il est impossible de les trouver traduites en français...je me demande pourquoi un éditeur ne l'a pas encore fait...
