Recommended by vet
This product was recommended by my vet for my 17 year old cat, who has stage 3 renal disease. It is simple to use and the cat seems to like it, at present. I am sure it must be alright but I have only just started using it, the next urinary tests will give a better indication. The product is very easy to use and it arrived quickly and is less expensive than most of her other medications, thankfully, as I can buy it through Amazon.

Missing syringe
Nothing wrong with the product itself, both my older cats are on this. But the box had been taped shut after clearly being damaged... and there was no syringe? Which is the only way my cats will take it.Great product in general - really calms my cat's tummies and seems to help the one with kidney issues. But if you're taping up a damaged (potentially returned?) box check the syringe is there before sending to customers. Also got the impression the bottle had been opened before but I can't prove that.

It saved my cat
From the beggining I want to say that my oppinion is based only on what I have observed with my cat, but I am hoping this suppliment will help others. My cat was first diagnosted with renal failure in 2013. Since then we have given him renal food. Mostly dry food. Before this he had around 5,5 kg, without beeing fat. But he was losing weight and this is how we descovered his problem. He stabilised his weight around 4,5 kg. Even if he was eating well he never returned at his former weight.Because we have another cat we were not able to totaly cut him from the normal food.In February 2019, we have moved to UK and the week that he stayed with my parents cuppled with his transport here from Romania (almost 3 days on the road) took his toll and he had lost some more weight. He had 3,5 kg. But after setling in he gained some weight back (3,8-4 kg).In all this time his general condition was good. He was eating by himself, he was not vomiting, his fur was shinny, he was playing.November 2019 was a difficult month. We had some new neighbours that started feeding him with normal food without our knowledge. He started vomiting, he was not eating his renal food. Only by luck we saw one day from the window how they were giving him food and explain the situation and asked them to stop. But the damage was already done. He was only licking from his wet food and not touching any of the dry food. He was vomiting every day.We took him to the vet and after seeing him and his blood results they didn't give him any chance. But at our request they put him on iv and he survived. He stayed 4 days on iv. He started eating again, he gain some of his weight back. But every 2 or 3 weeks we had to do something to make his kidneys work. An iv or at least some subcutaneous fluids under the skin. I was beggining to ask myself when all of this will be to much for him and by trying to keep him alive I was doing him more harm.We started Pronefra in March and I am so sorry I didn't know it existed before. The changes are great:- he is eating around 2 pouches of wet food a day and some dry food (before he was only eating 1 pouch a day and no dry food)- he is gaining weight. In November he had 2,5 kg and after his recovery he was oscilating between 2,8 and 3 kg. And now he has 3,3 kg.- he is not vomiting. At some point this winter he was under treatment with Ranitidine for almost 3 weeks to help him with his vomiting and we even had a discution with his vet about the pros and cons of taking Ranitidine for longer. But he doesn't need it anymore.- he is more playful. He was still playing with us before, but only during the day and for a little bit. I was thinking that it was because of his age. He is almost 13 years old. But now he is waking us in the midle of the night bringing his toys to our bed. I never tought that I will be so happy to be waken up in the midle of the night. But I know he is feeling a lot better now.I don't know if this supliment will work on your cat/dog. But it did wonders with mine. And I'm sorry I didn't know about this sooner. It was not recomended from the vet we went. My sister found it on the internet. This is the reason I gave you so many details about my cat. Maybe it will give your pet a better life.

Cat took to this straight away
This was recommended by the vet. Along with renal food, my cat, Harriet, has been on this since the beginning of August. She took to this with no problems at all and she is a cat that normally sniffs out and rejects any medication in food. She is so improved from the summer, much brighter and playful and she is over 13 years old.

Worked for my elderly poorly cat
I tried this on my cat. She's nearly 20 and has kidney problems. I thought she was at the end of her life and took her to my vet. Apparently her kidneys were the same as last year and as she vould walk in a straight line eat/ drink pee etc we went home with some antibiotics and a booster and vet said feed her whatever she likes.I tried this and found she loves it. I gave it daily for 3 weeks and now occasionally. She certainly seems more like her old self. Would buy againI keep her indoors

Good for cats who hate a bland renal diet.
My little cat is ultra fussy with her food and when she was diagnosed (many years ago) with CRF, the bland recommended renal food was unacceptable to her. I got around it by feeding her a normal diet of her favourites, and immediately afterwards gently syringing a little Pronefra, mixed in spring water which she seems to enjoy. (Syringe is included.)Pronefra can be mixed into food, but sometimes my little monkey wouldn't eat it, because something had been added. It's very important for cats with CRF to eat as well as possible, so Pronefra is definitely a great option.

No English instructions
This review is more about the things I can see and not how well it works for my cat as the vets know that it works so that is good enough for me. This product arrived with no English instructions, fortunately Google translate sorted that and it's 1ml for a 4kg cat, mine being 5kg I could work out where I needed to be but then the syringe doesn't have ml on it, there are kg marks for cats and for dogs but no line as to where you actually draw it to. Fortunately I have a real syringe and measured 1ml with that then used the pronefra syringe to find out where to draw to and it's basically the bottom of the syringe has to line up with the weight of the cat. Instructions would have been good but fortunately with Google and a real syringe I managed to get it right but since this is medicine it really should be in English and clear so that is why it has 2 stars.
