Excellent value and very interesting older recordings - some were milestones in their day. Generally very good sound. Good to get recordings of both Troilus and Cressida and The Bear.

Walton has been heralded as the most important composer of the 20th century. I knew little of his work and wanted to 'hear' for myself. His musical range is impressive and I feel that he has influenced many contemporary composers.

Have only had time to listen to four of the CD's. They are all good. This music evokes feelings and could easily fit as motion picture soundtracks, much like those of Andre Previn, Bernard Herrmann and other great composers.

For those just beginning to get into Walton, this is a varied, high quality presentation

英国の著名な作曲家ウィリアム・ウォルトンCD１２枚組全集です。個人的に映画音楽の曲をもっと充実させてほしかったという感もありますが、有名な作品はほぼ全て網羅されており、デビュー作「ファサード」やオペラなどの比較的珍しい作品も収録され、入門CD全集としてもうってつけの一品ではないでしょうか。収録されている演奏、録音は共に優秀で、とりわけ『空軍大戦略』組曲などは２７年前の録音とは思えないほど素晴らしい音質でした。一部はモノラル録音です（「合奏協奏曲第1番」「弦楽四重奏曲イ短調」「絶対音楽はどこへ行く？」）。また、上の方が書かれている曲目リストに関して若干補足。Disc5の収録曲が、『ヘンリー5世』組曲『トロイラスとクリシーダ』第2幕　間奏曲『お気にめすまま』組曲（カール・デイヴィス編）英国諸国民の歴史のための行進曲となっていますが、実際はこの後に映画『ハムレット』の葬送行進曲映画『リチャード三世』の前奏曲シェイクスピア組曲『リチャード三世』の３曲が収録されております。演奏はロイヤル・リヴァプール・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、指揮はチャールズ・グローヴズ卿によるもので、この上記三曲は、 Walton: 'SPITFIRE' PRELUDE AND FUGUE etc に収録されているものと同じものです。お値段も３０００円前後でお買い得ですね。 Walton: 'SPITFIRE' PRELUDE AND FUGUE etc

お買い得です当方ﾜｰﾅｰでなくまだＥＭＩの赤ラベルでした、これでウォルトンの作品は網羅です。まあもっとも映画音楽は少なめですが、とっ付きにはいいでしょう。

ボーンウィリアムス、ホルストと並ぶ近代、現代の音楽家ですね。どうしてイギリスはパーセル以来、エックレスぐらいで他の音楽家が輩出しなかったのでしょうか。ウオルトンの交響曲Ｎｏ1をロイヤルフェステイバルホールで生で聞いたことがありますが、その大音量樽谷、すごいものでした。この全集もいろいろ入っていて楽しかったです。

安いのに、何枚もCD入っていてびっくりシタ！値段見直して確認しました。

Before buying this I already owned the  EMI Classics Walton Collection Box set 8 CDs  which is an excellent collection of EMI discs which can also be bought separately. Many of the pieces in the Walton Collection 8 CD set are actually duplicated in this excellent box set, but there's much that isn't as well. This isn't a definitive collection by any means, and there are some great performances to be found elsewhere for sure, but I carefully compared all the works and then decided to buy this box set as it is, without a doubt, a real bargain!If you already own many of the EMI Classics Walton discs separately you'll definitely have some of the included works here, so check. I've compiled a complete list of all the works in this bargain of a 12 CD set, including the year each piece was written (just in case you need it for tagging FLAC rips etc.), and also the year given for each performance as given in the included box set booklet.
