Indian Nations Of North America
This book about the Indian Nation, was the last book in a series of books on my ancestors that I was determined to read. I needed to know what dailey life was like as well as how things like the Great Depression effected them. AMAZON gave me that opertunity when they sent their listing,"Indian Nations of North America. So much information is now at my finger tips that I can almost smell the campfires, hear the babble of a brook and see my Great grandmother wash the family laundry at the edge of the tiny brook. I can feel the hunger and sadness as The Great Depression engulfs her as well as the rest of the Nation. A point in time that brought large and smallbusineses to their knees also striped the indian of the last hope of holding onto their great planes and ever knowing that life again.I learned how the indian was robed of their lands under a cruel and inept government and also how some of them fought back , to no avail. They did however find time to raise their familys and learned english. This whould help them speak to The Great White Father in Washington in their own behalf. Don't you wish you could do the same?

Doesn't contain important tribes
It is a beautifully illustrated book, but it is rather incomplete. For example, it does not contain not even one word about the Crow nation, a major Plains Indians group which has a large reservation in Montana (where the Battle of Little Big Horn was fought) that was not discussed. The Crows were instrumental in helping the American Army defeat their historical enemies, the Lakota Sioux, who kept invading Crow territory. Is the author trying to only describe the Indian Nations that were enemies of or who were treated badly by the U.S. government, but avoiding the tribes which cooperated with the U.S. government? Some obscure and small tribes have a few pages about them, but the Crow are only listed on a couple of maps, but not one word is said about them.

Educational
I got back from a trip in the West and was eager to learn more about history and culture. This book covers it all and very educational with some photos on most pages.

Missing pages
It’s written for somebody between jr hi and hi skool. I’ve encountered several pages where the story line stops on one page and doesn’t pick back up on the next and I have 3 missing pages (so far).Paintings are so far very good, something we could expect from NG.Overall I recommend for anyone interested in America’s original inhabitants.

A Classic Masterpiece from National Geographic
This is an excellent tome. It is beautifully written, well laid-out, in addition to the photographic literature being presented in the very best way it can be, a quite outstanding and impeccable work. How refreshing it is to see the subject of Indigenous American Indian Nations with the content researched and provided by Native contributors. This factor, alone, only serves to enhance and authentic the rich content. The photographs are absolutely superb throughout the publication and they are of a quality and a standard that National Geographic have built their reputation upon and that is acknowledged and recognised all over the world. This book is a delight to hold in the hands, spectacular to look at, combined with knowledge, content and valuable insights into the respective histories, cultures, values, principles, beliefs, traditions and contemporary issues of American Indian Nations across the continent of 'Turtle Island', all validated by the Native contributors. It is, indeed a classic masterpiece and a 'must have' for anyone genuinely interested in this subject.
