Palm Beach People

I have visited Palm Beach many times over my life. There is literally no place on earth like it. I even had relatives who lived on El Vedado, right next to Mme. Jacques Balsan, former Consuelo Vanderbilt. I recall peeping through the bamboo hedge in hopes of seeing her -- but of course never did. This book captures the people and the setting in equal measures. What surprised me is how many of the residents collect modern art. If you take care to read the text, you'll learn a bit of history as well as details about the people featured. My only wish is that they could have captured Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church with the adjoining Clewett Memorial Gardens. Great book -- one to keep and enjoy for life.

Absolutely beautiful book! Wonderful in the fact it is very large and the photographs are detailed. The book is full of photographs of some familiar names and then some that are not so familiar, which can be the best. Shown in private homes, parties and gardens. Short description of the individual in the photograph. I enjoy all the projects that Hilary Geary Ross has involved herself with. She is obviously ensconced in a world of great privilege, allowing peeks behind the high hedges into the private Palm Beach. Harry Benson has done a masterful job with the photographs. Perfect book for a holiday gift! As well one you will want to own and revisit many times.

It was VERY enjoyable...we live in "the country" with our horses just west of palm beach, and we love to slip into town for dinner or just a drive along the ocean....So it was a familiar and delightful "read" and I know I will enjoy going through it again soon... Palm Beach is a unique and exquisite gem that exudes an atmosphere all its own.

Palm Beach People is a great book on high society's movers and shakers. Beautiful photos of the rich and famous. With the past and present of who's who of Palm Beach society.

If you wondered what it's like for the 1% living in Palm Beach this is a fun read with great photos. I love great homes and this book had a lot of detailed images showing what Palm Beach was like in the Meisner days. A lot cheaper to read this book than to buy a house there!!

It’s huge! Most beautiful coffee table book.

Very insightful book. The photography was stunning. My daughter was married in West Palm Beach, and her reception was held at the Ritz Carlton in Manalapan. Initially, we were drawn to the area for the aesthetics of the Ritz Carlton. Ultimately, we left with a greater appreciation of the wonderful residents of this multi-faceted cultural mecca, with its beautiful shops, and scenic coastline.

I got this as a gag gift and this is exactly what it made me do. Harry Benson is no Slim Aarons. The photographs are so posed and contrived.The text is so simplistic a third grader could have done better. No one really cares about Palm Beach people except Palm Beach people. A selffulfilling accolade. Donald and his trophy were the icing on the cake.
