Fit 2007 Impreza
Possibly easiest fix ever. After replacing timing belt my power steering was making noise. I must have bumped the power steering line enough this dry o ring allowed air to go by. You can loosen the one 10 or 12 mm bolt, wiggle out the fitting and prong slides tight off and on. Insert slowly snd tighten bolt, very little torque needed. Fit 2007 Impreza, I suspect it will work with most EJs. Sound disappeared.

$5 for a tiny O-ring is crazy, but works.
OEM part. Fixed the issue I was having in my 07 subaru forester. Power steering pump was really loud because the old gasket was dried up, after swapping it out the noise went away. Really expensive though.

Best Choice? Sloppy Fit
15 year old o-ring was def past its prime, so tried getting one from local dealers - amazing to find nobody stocked them. Went ahead and ordered. Shipping took massive amount of time, so found local shop that specializes in o rings and packing materials. Guy there hooked me up with nitrile rubber o-rings he thought would work. Installed the non-Subaru ones and found they did a great job sealing and held on snuggly to part that goes into steering pump. Later in the day the Subaru part I had been waiting for showed up so I thought I’d compare. The OE part doesn’t hold onto the outlet part, so much slack I had to insert it into the pump and insert hose while pump held o ring in place. Rare case of OE part might not be best choice , and is maybe why it failed in first place.

Best $5 O-Ring
Stellar purchase. $5 is a stupid amount of money for a single o-ring, but it fixed the obnoxious power steering whine on my 2003 H6 Subaru Outback. Very pleased with such an easy fix.

The "correct" part but is actually too big, use the orange o ring part
While this is the correct part for the power steering suction line o-ring for EJ253 SOHC, I have noticed since switching to this o-ring, my power steering pump whines like crazy on startup. I sincerely believe Subaru got the O-ring size wrong for the pump. I noticed upon trying to insert the o-ring into the steering system, the o-ring was rolling over /squeezing outward. It seats, but it's clearly too big. Hence the loud and continuous noise at startup that the system is sucking in air. I have had a 2009 for a very long time, I switched to the orange o-ring 34439FG000 years ago and the noise went away, once I heard the noise after switching to this part # all of those memories came running back! I absolutely dread Subaru power steering systems! DO NOT use this o-ring. Use the 34439FG000 orange o-ring. I suspect many continue to run that original o-ring and that's what causes the power steering system to fail after some time as it continually sucks in air.
