Lakrids B - Passion Chocolate Coated Licorice 150g

I buy Lakrids all the time direct from the manufacturer in Denmark and they are pricey, but they are my favorite licorice and I'm a little addicted! I was so happy to see them on Amazon for a little less money, but I should have known better. In the picture, you see two bright yellow passionfruit Lakrids which I purchased from the manufacturer in May (expiration date Jan 27 2020), and then two pale yellow passionfruit Lakrids which I purchased from Amazon (Chelsea Market Baskets - fulfilled by Amazon) yesterday (expiration date 7/24/2019). The Amazon Lakrids are stale, have no flavor, and are nearing expiration. My guess is that these were not stored in a dark, cool, dry place as instructed on the label, but in a warm, humid warehouse instead. Unfortunately for me, I am out $39.00 because I purchased 6 containers and they cannot be returned. I am not happy to say the least, as these are going in the garbage. Please learn from my mistake. Lakrids licorice candies are awesome if you like licorice, but buy them direct from the manufacturer so you don't end up with stale, nasty candy!Update 6/14/2019: I contacted Amazon through the chat feature, and they credited the purchase price back to my credit card. I so appreciate Amazon resolving my issue so quickly!

I love Lakrids, but the 2 containers that I received were rancid and tasted old. They are inedible. I know John, would not be happy to hear this considering the true artisan that he is. I'll know better next time and order directly from the company. Sorry I couldn't give a better review, for one of my favorite candies.

Very disappointed. Had tried this product on a recent trip to Iceland. Was delicious and unique. After coming home, ordered this. Packaging slightly different. Taste completely different. Very strong aftertaste. Tastes like diabetic candy with a very strong chemical flavor. Imagine sour licorice sweetened with aspartame and you’ll understand.

I received a jar of these little goodies as a gift and have purchased several since. The licorice is just sweet enough to have the flavor come through and the passion fruit or lilikoi coating has enough tartness to make a great mixture. I have to hide a jar or they disappear overnight!

If you like both chocolate and black licorice, don’t be shy about trying these! AND they are gluten free!! The passion fruit flavor adds a very mild tartness that is totally, unexpectedly delicious. Note that this is also the Scandinavian, slightly salty licorice.The only sad thing is that last I checked, this size was not being offered anymore. Other flavors are, just not the passion fruit variety, which I’m hooked on.

Who knew this flavor combination would work so well together? I was turned onto these at a winery store in Half Moon Bay. They combined this candy ball of deliciousness with their sparkling wine. I was in heaven! So happy I can order these online!

Glad I tried this gourmet licorice. Not sure about the mango flavor though...
