109006 Radiant Fireback (15"x 15")

I was incredibly skeptical about this product. We have an old stone fireplace in our house and I was looking for a way to make the fireplace more efficient. Unfortunately the fireplace fans can't be installed with our fireplace and I didn't want to purchase one of those blower inserts because they are incredibly expensive. So in my search to find an alternative, I found this item. I noticed in looking at Firebacks that there are primarily two kinds: the stainless steel ones (like this product) and the cast iron ones. I ultimately went with this one because I like that it had legs to tilt the fireback and because it was more economical- the shipping for cast iron firebacks was just as much as the products themselves! Plus I figured I'd give this a try and if it didn't work it wouldn't be a huge loss. I am incredibly happy to report that this thing is awesome!! We felt a major difference the very first time we used it! Our living room is so much warmer now that we purchased this item, as heat is being directed into the room and reflected into the room rather than escaping up the chimney. One night the room became so hot that we needed to crack open a window. The product itself is lightweight and thin, which initially had me concerned before I saw how well it worked. The legs are handy because you can position/angle the fireback in a way that works best with your setup. I will agree with other reviewers and mention that after multiple uses our silver fireback became black- but this wasn't a big deal to us and since it is continuing to warm our room we really don't care. We did not buy it for the silver aesthetic, but if you are looking for this reason, you may need to consider that the color changes. I know others have mentioned that there is a way to clean it if you are concerned. We are very pleasantly surprised by this item and have already recommended it to friends and family. We will continue to use ours regularly.

For what this item costs, it did not make any noticeable difference in the amount of heat coming out of our fireplace with a gas log set. But customer service compromised with me on the return shipping costs, which was very helpful.

Wish I had bought this earlier! Night and day difference reflecting the fire. We used it every night for several hours since January and still it is not black (we have gas fireplace) it makes the fire look double in size! There is some more heat sent out into the room but it takes a while.

We use our fireplace a lot - at least once a week, and I bought this to protect the brickwork. My one complaint is that the heat has warped the fireback. I found this surprising, as the one thing I would expect a fireback to withstand is heat.

Surprisingly well made! I was impressed. I haven't got to actually use it yet but its very well built. I was expecting a flimsy piece of junk from the looks if the picture but was pleasently surprised.

This fireback is perfect for my outdoor masonry chiminea. It fits exactly across the back of the firebrick, and reflects most of the heat to the sitting area in front of the fireplace (heat loss is a common problem with chimineas). Sturdy panel supported by adjustable angled-steel holders make it easy to fit into most fireplaces.. but check the rear dimensions of your firebox before ordering.

Becuase of design of our gas logs installation it took some rigging to install the backdrop.

Radiates heat well, however, it blackened immediately and does not actively reflect light.
