This book is more than a weight loss journey, it is about survival against all odds!
At first glance, one might think that Gregg McBride's book is about weight loss. Although Gregg does give a thorough account of his weight loss journey, this book is so much more! It is about surviving a bizarre and emotionally abusive childhood. It is about enduring and excelling by sheer iron will! It is an account of the day to day struggle to become one's authentic self both internally and externally, despite over-whelming adversity. Along the way we get many insights into the psychology of weight gain and loss, and also learn that the only way to true weight loss success is through changing our attitude about ourselves and our relationship to food. Gregg offers no magic bullets, no tricks, no promises of overnight success. But he does show us, by example, the amazing power we have within ourselves to overcome the greatest of obstacles and achieve our goals by sheer determination and never giving up! Above all else, Gregg's book is inspirational. It it brave, powerful, and genuine as illustrated by many friends of the author, who give their personal accounts and memories of Gregg through various phases of his life in first-person sidebars. The book is also a fascinating read about a courageous, gifted and extraordinary person, whether you have weight issues are not! It is a book about survival against all odds. And it's one heck of an excellent read!

"Weightless", truly inspirational
'Weightless" is a gift, for yourself and for those that your life touches. Gregg McBride writes with an honest, unbridled realism on his journey thru his life so far, how hardships affected him and how he struggled for so long to counter them. He doesn't tell the usual cookie cutter tale of how he lost weight and what you should do if you want to as well like so many other books out there. Gregg walks in thru your front door and sits down with you face to face, he speaks directly to you of the pain he went thru and how it affected him. How he battled it. And how he overcame it. His journeys speaks of the outward symptoms and side effects caused by the deeper wounds we carry inside us, that we are mostly afraid to face or deal with directly. His journey of self realization didn't just allow me to see him, it helped me to see myself. His expression of hope is grounded with an individualized approach to how each person can better themselves by looking inside and seeing what works best for them, not following some scripted hit-and-miss routine that rigidly addresses the symptoms and not the cause or after effects. ''Weightless" is an extraordinary read from cover to cover, truly inspirational.

By the end of the book, I felt like I'd known Gregg for years~!
This book is not just for people who have issues with weight. This is one of the best written books I've read - any category - in years~!I learned some things that immediately helped me lose some weight, too. That's almost an added bonus for the laughter and gut wrenching tears I experienced while reading Gregg's story. The storytelling never asks for empathy, unlike similar stories of struggles might. Gregg never feels sorry for himself on these pages. Also, if you ever wondered what a super-obese person's life must be like day to day, there are subjects explained here in great detail that I've never heard anywhere before. If you like to learn new things and be surprised at every turn, this is the book for you. If you LOVE TO LAUGH this is the book for you~! Additionally, if you have weight issues, "Weightless" will tell you very simply how to deal with it without going crazy. I wish I had this book before I bought the last 10 diet books I read. Love you, Gregg~! How awesome is that? I have never met him, only just picked up his book, read it and a few tweets later, he's a family member~! Everyone who reads #Weightless will fall in love with Gregg and want to follow him on Twitter and Instagram @GreggMcBride.

Lifeline for everyone
Read this on my kindle. Sometimes when reading fiction on my kindle I switch back and forth with the other books in the library. That did not happen with this book. I think I binged read this one. Heartbreakingly honest and compelling in his telling of his personal journey to finding his authentic self, Gregg pulls you in, all the way in, to his heart center. Cutting to the core of how we process our pain and construct walls around us to protect us from further suffering, which in the end does create more suffering. He takes you on the roller coaster of self discovery, through the victories and the setbacks and 'up' again. This is about not letting your negative past experiences define you, and burning through them with such courage and will to flourish, until you get where you want to be. It is a lifeline and helped me in the most profound way personally as I read it. I recommend it for everyone. It will resonate for anyone.

Weightless: A True Life Success Story
Weightless is a story of persistence to go for your dream no matter the obstacles. Greg had the grit and determination to move forward and not let his parents or his weight get in the way of going after his dream and glad that he is doing what he wants to do.I liked his wit and humor and could identify with using that to get thru the day / life.. You got to have a sense of humor to deal with things. It was also a good point to let go of all the negative baggage, as that does just hold you down. I would highly recommend this book, not just as a weight loss tool, but just a good read to let you know that sometimes the good guys do finish first, and continued success to Gregg McBride.

Excellent and candid book
Excellent and candid book! So motivating and could not put it down. I am not in the category of weight that he had to lose at all, but it sure did help me spot some things that are stopping my own progress. This book is far more about the process of getting your life under control in a healthy lifestyle than it is about what to do specifically.I give it 4 out of 5 because it does not tell you much about what he DID do in more detail. But the story is so compelling that it is quite good. I would give it 4.5 if this was possible. I did find myself looking for more specifics. There are so many books on the market to find this so it is not a big issue.HIGHLY recommend it!
