Makes a necessity fun!
Excellent rosin. I’ve used Hill Dark Rosin since the mid 1970s, alternating it only occasionally with Jade in the past couple of years. When my daughter started playing, the dust from rosins was irritating her eyes and nose. It used to slightly irritate move as well (the Amber rosin) but back when I started playing it was something that had to be endured. I found this beautiful rosin foe my daughter when she first started playing because I thought it’s prettiness would make her remember to rosin her bow. The first cake I bought her was the hit of the 4th grade class, and wound up getting stolen. I replaced it abdcI’ve been buying her Magic rosin for almost 4 years now. I’ve started using the 3g rosin myself. It’s a great all-purpose rosin, with low dust, excellent grip, and a clean, clear tone. In a cold climate, the Ultra may be preferable, but 3G works year-round in the desert. If you are a fan of dark in rosin, like me, you will likely really enjoy Magic Rosin. A little goes a long way and lasts a long time! This works well on synthetic strings and with my electric violin as well. I must say I love choosing from all the different designs. I tend to always have the Shattered Glass one on hand. I feel like I’m using a jewel to rosin my bow.

I never dreamed that I would care about rosin
My son is taking violin lessons, and I am self taught. Rosin is rosin, right? I've gotten tons of it over the years, and it all did what it is supposed to do, none of it any better or any worse than anything else. But goodness gracious, no... this stuff is fantastic! I bought it on a whim, and I will never buy anything else. My son sounds fantastic, and he says bowing is easier now. The one thing I wanted to mention is that the rosin is perfectly clear. Those colors you get to choose from? They are just a sticker under the rosin that makes it look fun... and makes it easier to find when you put it down, so don't worry about discoloring you bow hair if you get the one with blue sparkles.

I didn't expect such a drastic difference
Just a couple of quick notes up top that may or may not be important to you. I don't know if this is hypoallergenic, but it has absolutely no smell upon first opening it. After I roughed it up a bit rosining my bow, I could very, very faintly smell just the tiniest hint of tree resin, but I have an extremely sensitive nose (for better and for worse) so YMMV. If you're not allergic, but looking for an odorless, or near odorless option, this is it.Second, they're not kidding when they say this is crystal clear. At first, I wasn't sure if they were referring to the physical appearance or the tone, and uneasy about the thought of pink rosin shedding all over the place. It turned out to be both. I am in LOVE with the tone I'm getting, but more on that in my actual review below.I bought this rosin on a whim while picking up a new CF student bow to trial since my current bow is a couple of years old, and rehairing it would cost more than a new one. This arrived first, so I cleaned the old rosin off my current bow, rosined up with the Magic 3G, and... Wow. I honestly did not expect this much of a difference, especially on the A and E strings.II typically use D'iadario Kaplain dark rosin because I only practice indoorsin a climate controlled, low humidity environment which is what attracted me to 3G (besides the beautiful cases!). Yet somehow, when I glide my bow across the A and E strings no matter where on the violin I am, it just sounds sweeter andclearer. Now this could easily just be my imagination, or the fact that my current rosins are both about 2 1/2 years old. I did order some fresh Kap dark, that I'll rerosin with once the Magic 3G wears off. But, between that clearer, sweeter tone at the higher end, and it just FEELING really good under my fingertips to play with, I think I just became a repeat customer.

Amazon made it right!
First: I love Magic Rosin...I'm a dedicated symphony performer. USPS screwed up and I received a package with a hole in it where the rosin slipped out. Twice USPS said they were going to send me receipts about my claim...they failed twice (3 times including the delivery of an empty package). Not sure who made it right...but the event was fixed in 3 days (Amazon didn't use USPS the 2nd time). USPS is pretty worthless lately...THANK YOU AMAZON and Magic Rosin

Not bad for allergies
This rosin has virtually no smell! I’m allergic to pine, and this has been a significant factor as a violinist. Magic rosin is more gummy than most rosins. It produces significantly less dust than Jade, goldflex, AB and hill dark. Definitely be sure to wipe all residue promptly to avoid damage to varnish!
