Classy, Well-Rounded Pomade that Deserves Your Attention
I've tried a lot of hair products over the years, attempting to find a "daily go-to" that I could consistently rely on. I used some for months (sometimes even a year or two), but only because I had given up on trying to find something better. I found myself, time and time again, settling for, "gets the job done, but... *insert minor gripe*." I don't recall how I eventually came across FLY No. 1, but I've finally discovered a product that I thoroughly enjoy using, with absolutely no complaints. The aforementioned (and ever elusive) "daily go-to" really does exist, and I found mine. Here's why:Hold: This pomade has a sufficiently strong hold without crossing into the territory of being dry and crispy. If you start with damp hair and go a little heavy, it will hold the entire day, no questions asked. If some decent wind starts rustling your hair's jimmies, the product has no problem holding again after restyling with a wet comb (maybe two or three times before it breaks down). On the other hand, if you go a little light (still starting with damp hair), as I prefer to do, light wind and moderate activity can move it out of place, but your hair will stay put if you loosely re-style it with your fingers. Sometimes I'll run my hands through it after it dries to break it up and create more of a natural, flowy look, for which this pomade also works well due to its softer, non-crunchy texture. Speaking of which...Texture: As this is water-based, it is very smooth both in application as well as after it dries. I can run my hands through it without feeling at all like I need to go wash them afterwards, which is one of the reasons I stopped using waxes/clays. As far as solubility, if you rinse it out in the shower with just water, your hair will feel totally normal afterward, with maybe the faintest scent leftover, depending on how much you used and how well you rinsed. I haven't experienced any flaking, regardless of whether I use a lot or a little, and despite living in a very dry environment and struggling with dry skin, I haven't had any dandruff when using this on a daily basis.Shine: Your hair will have a very subdued, natural shine if you don't touch it after styling it, but will appear much more matte if you do something along the lines of what I described earlier to create that natural, relaxed look. In this regard, the brand's description of the shine seems accurate. Scent: It seems to me that hair styling products often struggle in the aroma department. Some common problems I've experienced are as follows:-Smell more chemical-ish than natural-Smell like dirt (some clays)-Too floral. I don't want to smell like Grandma's potpourri.-Too overpowering. It's nice to have hair that smells good, but I'd like to maintain the option of wearing cologne without it being smothered by what's on my head. With FLY No. 1, it seems that due diligence was given to creating the scent with respect as part of the balanced whole, rather than as an afterthought that just smells good enough to be tolerable. The sandalwood/vanilla combo smells incredibly pleasant without being offensive. It's not chemical-ish at all, and certainly not "musky," as another review described. More importantly, it doesn't permeate the very atmosphere around you, causing anything that it touches to adopt it's odor for the rest of the day. If I wash my hands and lightly rinse my comb with some warm water, you probably wouldn't be able to tell what product I used by smelling them. Conversely, it's strong enough to catch hints of throughout the day and be subtly reminded of what you're wearing without it fading into oblivion just a few hours after styling.Packaging/Appearance: I'm slightly biased, since I love all things aviation themed, but the presentation of this product really hits a note with me. The tin is clean, classy, and looks as good as you do after using what's inside. The pomade itself will start to get a hazy layer on top after a while, but I've found that this doesn't affect its performance in any way, and doesn't seem to be an ingredient separation of any kind. As a side-note, the tin is 3 oz, which means you won't have any issues with it going through TSA if/when you travel.Price: $18 seems to be middle-of-the-road as far as pomades go. I wouldn't mind paying more for something of this quality if I had to, though. Conclusion: If you're looking for a pomade that works well for a variety of styling methods, has a scent that you actually enjoy wearing (sometimes I open the tin just to smell it), and instills a sense of adventure by hearkening back the days of classic aviation, look no further. FLY No. 1 has got you covered.P.S. I did not receive this product for a review. I am a regular customer and this is my unsolicited opinion of a great pomade that I love using and highly encourage others to try out. Thanks for reading!

The smell isn’t overpowering
The first time I got this was as a gift, and I’ve loved it since. I only have one complaint, because I’ve ordered this before and it came looking clear so that you could see the little plane at the bottom, but this time it came with a weird texture on the top. I don’t think they can fix that, though, and it might have just been because of the conditions it was subjected to during the shipping process. The hold is absolutely fantastic, though, and the scent isn’t too overpowering! I’ll definitely buy this again.

Great for my fine thickness hair.
Exactly what I had hoped for in a pomade. A kind of wood/vanilla smell and easy to use. Stuff lasts for a long time, too. Don't need much more than a little greasing of the fingers to get a good hold in your hair. I usually use it a little after taking a shower when my hair is still a bit damp, seems to help train the hair into place. Works for me and my hair is very fine coarseness.

They changed the hold and the smell between my two orders.
I ordered this a while ago, and it was alright. Had a very faint smell, pretty good hold. Product wasn't perfect, but it was good enough. So when I was close to running out, I purchased the same thing, instead of shopping around. This new pomade smells like strong old lady perfume, and the hold is not nearly as good. IDK what they did to it, but as soon as I'm done with this review, I'm going to be purchasing something else.

Great smell, feel, look. Stylish container. High quality.
I decided to try a higher quality pomade since I ran out of my DSC pomade. This pomade smells amazing. It’s very reminiscent of a barbershop to me for some reason. The hold is great and it leaves you with a very natural look. I use it to style my hair everyday now.Just a great product, period. If you want quality- this is it.

The best pomade. Period.
This pomade is simply the best. Best quality, best materials, not too showy. Great hold, pleasant (but not overpowering) fragrance, and overall classy and sophisticated. I love this product. I have tried at least 5 or 6 other similar products that were rated highly on Amazon, but none of them even come close to this. Well done, bravo to Fly Barbershop for this truly fantastic product. I'm in awe.

Not strong hold
Smells good, but more manly smelling if you ladies were looking to use something on your hair too. I don't think it was strong hold like other bedhead products I have used. I used it once and haven't used it since. I wouldn't reorder, it didn't hold my look like I was hoping.

Great smell and not sticky
I love the strong hold of Fly pompade. It helps thicken my hair and style without being sticky.
