Multiplication Unplugged (CD/book kit) Paperback – September 1, 1996

I teach third grade. Some of the songs are really catchy. I used this CD for Intervention and for five minutes before dismissal. There might be better CDs out there, but this one was very helpful. I would use only some of the songs with higher grades as the students might think the others are a bit "hokey".

I mean, really, I don't know what I was expecting! It's songs about multiplication tables. I guess with a name like multiplication "unplugged", I just expected something more catchy. To me, the songs kind of run together. It's not terrible just a bit grating on my nerves( the voices). I guess that's what head phones are for. You would want the child to focus on one song for several days until they had mastered that number before moving on. Listening to this whole CD would be overwhelming!

I bought this for my 8 yr. old granddaughter who was having trouble retaining the multiplication facts. She is an "A" student and usually learns easily but just as it seemed that she had the facts in her head she'd lose them. She understood how to multiply and could work out the answer but we wanted her to memorize the facts so she could do her math work quickly and efficiently. The music is catchy, if not current. My daughter and son in law had a laugh over the tunes but were soon impressed. As a result of listening to the cd in the car and twice daily before falling asleep she quickly learned to count by 2s - 12s. She then progressed so that she's learned her times tables quickly and easily. Her teacher is so impressed that she has recommended it to the rest of the 3rd grade class. My granddaughter did not seem to like the book as well, but the purpose was for her to learn to multiply quickly and she has done so. I would recommend this cd to everyone. Just keep in mind that it needs to be played and sung along to - so play it in the car and sing along. It makes for a good family fun time as well.

The songs are catchy and I find myself humming them from time to time. My 12 yr old had problems learning the multiplication tables. At first she was hesitant and thought the songs were too "babyish" but she seems to like them more and more. And yes we have seen an improvement in her math skills. This would be best for slightly younger kids but if they are willing to listen and learn it will work.

I used this CD with my 3rd graders every morning and I often played it during math time. They enjoyed it! When I first started playing the CD I wasn't sure if they would think that the music would by boring as it is upbeat but not in a modern upbeat "pop" style. A few students didn't enjoy it, but most of them did! Some even have favorites and request me to play certain songs. I found it helpful to encourage students to put up one finger at a time while skip counting. I appreciate that the songs include skip counting along with multiplication facts and that the facts go up to 12s instead of ending with 10s. One note of caution---these songs will get stuck in your head!! I have found myself singing them in my sleep (but as a bonus, my students have too! These songs must be working!). Multiplication Unplugged is a helpful resource for classroom teachers!

Memorization is so much easier when put to music! These have been game changers for my kids. They like all the numbers except for the 6's which seem to drag a bit and the melody is harder to catch on to. Otherwise they are catchy and memorable! I even end up singing them...

I bought this cd for a child learning their multiplication facts. The child thought the songs were out-dated and that they were for younger kids. If you are teaching your child their multiplication facts at four years old then they may like this. Most older kids will think it's stupid. Some of the songs are also too slow and not catchy at all.

My daughter and I give this CD 5 stars. The CD has two parts: the first part was singing the facts twice and the second part sings the facts twice again, but the second fact is left blank so my daughter can feel in the answer. She and my 5 years niece loves all of the songs. It has been several weeks and they both request the CD as soon as they get in my car :) I would recommend this product to any child that likes to sing, they will learn without knowing.

Used this in my special education classroom -- everyone loved it! It works!

英語の掛け算の歌はロックだったりヒップホップだったり、英語以外のところでリズムが難しかったり歌詞が難しかったり日本人英語学習者には使えないものが多いですが、このCDは歌も比較的単純、歌詞も掛け算メインでわかりやすいです。また歌の歌詞もちゃんとポケットブックに書いてあるのでとても便利。数字は簡単ですがネイティブスピードの数字を書きとれるレベルまで慣れている学習者も少ないので、この教材はそんなとき役に立つと思います。特にリアルタイムで九九を学習する小さな英語学習者にはぴったりだと思います。
