An enclosure that didn't have a fan allowed the drive to get too hot and burn out. Make sure you get an enclosure with a fan if you intend to use the enclosure a lot. USB 3.1 connection measured 850 MB/s write and 877 MB/s read on a drive capable of 3000 MB/s writes. USB 3.1 is fast, but not pcix is the faster connection in my tests. Connected to a PC with only USB 3.0 got 318 MB/s write and 329 MB/s read.

Fantastic case, easy to assemble, great transfer speeds and keeps my Samsung 970 Evo Pro nice and cool considering it runs pretty hot otherwise (using as a bootable Linux Mint drive).
