"Wider is better" serves as the mountain bike mantra of late for handlebars. And, although they provide control and exceptional leverage, they also create torque, especially if used with a standard stem. Syntace's Megaforce2 Stem is the shortest stem available on the market designed specifically for the widest bars. The Megaforce2 is forged from a high strength aluminum alloy, which helps to increase strength while reducing weight. Additionally, titanium bolts help to keep weight at a minimum. The stem wears a low profile above the headset and it is greater in width than height at 36mm x 42mm. This wider cross section allows reduction of swaying tendency. The faceplate is two individual pieces affixed with four bolts. It is clamped to the steered tube with two deep-set bolts. The stem features a +/- 6-degree stem angle, which is ideal for reduced steered tube length geometries. The Syntace Megaforce2 Stem is available in lengths ranging from 30mm to 80mm, in 10 degree increments. It comes in Black.

Perfection
I purchased the 70mm MF2 for my Jamis Dakar XCR, and it exceeded my lofty expectations. I am a fit 6' 208lb rider and am pretty strong. With my 131g 70mm Easton stem, I could feel my 740mm bars flex while hammering down a dry, rocky SoCal downhill, and it was not very confidence inspiring. With the 129g (on my scale) MF2 stem with the same bars, the front end is absolutely rock solid. There is zero flex on the trail, no matter the speed or terrain........... For the stem to be this light and this stiff, is just ridiculous.Make sure you look in the bottom compartment of the sparse packaging as that is where the included custom topcap and owners manual reside. I could easily see people missing that, and just throwing the packaging away. Also, the 6 bolts had a dry, crusty substance on them as well as the stem itself, so I spent 5 minutes removing whatever it was and then applied my own grease to the bolt threads as to get accurate torque values. Not a big deal, but it was worth mentioning. The MF2 is the perfect stem....... Light, stiff as heck and very good looking.

Getting just the right fit.
Have a Cannondale Synapse that I oversized in accordance with Rivendell fitting process. The byproduct of this is that my bike is oversized by modern fitting standards, but I am able to get a specific geometry that places the handle bars higher which takes pressure off my back. It makes a comfy ride but the top tube was long and made the reach a little uncomfortable. Replaced the stock stem with the 30mm stem and the bike is pretty much perfect right now. Very comfortable riding road bike for fitness purposes. The stem itself is a tank and I'm happy with the addition to my bike.

Pricy, but worth it.
In terms of design and quality, Syntace is second to none. This stem looked great out of the box, and the fit to the Syntace bar was super precise, better than all other quality stem/bar combos I have used. The Syntace seatpost is the best there is. I 've never bought anything from Syntace that was not top quality. The trouble is, you pay for it, it's not cheap.

Good piece.
Great piece of equipment. Somtimes it's hard to feel justified about buying the expensive piece - this one is fully worth it. I really appreciate the craftsmanship that went into the making of this stem. Also, it's stiff, stiff, stiffy. I'll buy more Syntace stems, they're dialed.

Works for me
It may not be the lightest, latest, or greatest, but it's the shortest stem I can find anywhere! I wish the bike industry would produce more components to fit petite riders.

Shortest stem I could find
I bought this for my daughters 20 inch hard rock. The bike was little long with the stock stem and this was the shortest 31.8 stem I could find tat still looked like a stem. My main mountain bike has all Syntace cockpit as well as seatpost and I think they make great components for the price.
