great blender, great value
I love this machine. It is an incredible blender. I researched the living daylights out of which blender to buy, and what the best blender was for the price. I decided to go with a Vitamix, and decided that this reconditioned one for under $400, was the best value for the money. The vitamix is great because it can blend just about anything to a smooth texture Since it does have a variable speed rotary knob, you can set it on 1 or 2 and chop things as well, like onions, or celery, or to add a bit of texture to something you just blended. (Just lower the speed and add some items at the end.) It makes snow cones, slushies, smoothies, soups, sauces, and frozen desserts (think sorbet) in seconds, and it makes a mean margarita. My old Oster always left chunks of ice. Not this one.You get a 5 year warranty rather than the 7 years you'd get if you bought new, but for $75, you can buy an extra 3 year warranty from Vitamix and still come out ahead--if you feel the need for a warranty that is longer than 5 years. This model has the tall skinny container, just like the commercial versions. I figure all those restaurants cannot be wrong. It also has the presets, which some people dismiss as unnecessary, but I find to be rather useful. I can get a smoothie started and clean up while it runs through its paces. I also use the smoothie setting to clean the machine. The more expensive new generation machine with presets has a cleaning function, so I was inspired to give it a go. It works great. There are advantages to the new generation machines in that they are more likely to fit beneath your upper cabinets, and easier to scrape food out of from around the blades, but the disadvantages are that they require more food to process when making small quantities, and the tamper doesn't get as close to the blades, so it can be a little tricky to get frozen things blended. I think anyone would be very happy with any Vitamix, but this one seems to me like the best combination of features for the price. The OXO jar spatula and the iSi Basics Silicone slim spatula are both long enough and narrow enough to be perfect for the narrow container of this blender. I would give the edge to the OXO though.

My New Bestfriend and Nutrition Partner!
I have been wanting to buy a vitamix for a few years now, but could never swallow the price of the a blender. In all honestly I really couldn't get over the price tag, and never saw myself ever purchasing a blender that cost a month worth of rent. I finally took the leap due to all the money I was throwing away buying a new blender ever few months that never lived up lasting up to a year, so I went ahead and purchased the red refurbished vitamix. I recieved the three-preprogrammed setting 120 V 50/60 Hz 11.5 AMPS model 00102B 6300. It came in exceptional condition, everything was new except the base you would never known it was used if it didn't have a sticker on the back. It comes with three preprogrammed setting base with 2 peak output horsepower motor - blade tip (rust resistant) speeds up to 240 mph, 64oz BPA free container, tamper, savor recipe cookbook, let's get started DVD and instructions pamphlet. The three preprogrammed setting is perfect as it is set for hot soup, frozen desserts and smoothies. I was going to purchase the five preprogrammed blender but it really is unnecessary, you really dont need the cleaning and puree setting. With all vitamix they are self cleaning, add a few drops of dish soap in blender with water and turn on for a few seconds (save yourself the extra $100)!The blender itself is AMAZING! No more eating chunks of spinach or strawberries seeds in you smoothies! I have always eaten healthy but my diet consumes about 80% raw now with the help of this beauty. The black spec test however did fail in the white bowl as it's invisible in your food. (Test- Add water to blender and blend for few seconds and pour in white bowl to see flakes.) This was actually the first thing I tested. I was a bit disappointed, but we consume toxic chemicals everyday from the air we breath to the water we drink. Vitamix has a 5 year warranty which I'm sure they will fix this issue before then to get a new container that is spec free. Manufacter claims the specs are non toxic. I also wanted the tall container instead of the wide as I read it's harder to get clean and you have to double recipe to get it to blend. Blender is made in the USA which is also a plus, you are less likely to be eating lead if it was made in china.

Certified Refurbished
My husband and I recently purchased a certified refurbished Vitamix C-Series and it has been a huge upgrade from our old compact size cuisanart blender. This blender is so much more than a blender! You can make hot soups, smoothies, frozen desserts, sauces, dips, juice, batters, dough, butter, salad dressing and more !While I was skeptical at first about the “hot soup” and “frozen dessert” program options on the Vitamix, I was pleasantly surprised by the HOT soup it produced when we tried the chicken tortilla soup recipe that is included in the recipe and techniques book included in the purchase. The Vitamix comes with an easy to follow recipe/manual and my husband and I have enjoyed making soup, hummus , pesto, smoothies and salsa! The machine itself is simple and powerful. The blender itself gets very loud when making recipes for items that are thicker, such as frozen desserts. However, I don’t imagine any “quiet” blenders exist and that it will naturally be loud when you are grinding and blending things such as nuts and frozen fruit.I would highly recommend the Vitamix to others who are looking for a high quality & high performance blender to add to your home. It has become an essential kitchen appliance for us as we are switching to more plant based diet that requires preparing more sauces with a high powered blender. We are absolutely thrilled with our refurbished Vitamix purchase and while we were initially skeptical about how powerful it would be after malfunctioning and being refurbished, so far so good.
