Natural, affordable source of prebiotic water-soluble fiber
The powder tastes like dried grapefruit pith, that is, "grapefruit" minus the acidity of the citric acid or the sweetness of the natural sugar in the juice. As pectin, it is a good source of soluble fiber that can be digested by the microbes in the large intestine that make up the gut microbiome, which is why I take it. In general, doctors recommend water-soluble fiber for patients with high cholesterol. Taking a fiber supplement right before a meal can help create a feeling of fullness that makes it easier to avoid overeating. Plus, by increasing bulk and water content of the stool, fiber increases regularity. Other soluble fiber options are acacia gum, like in Benefiber, psyllium, like in Metamucil, or oat fiber in Cheerios or regular oatmeal. Other sources are apple pectin (I am put off by the state-mandated lead warning in California), apple peel powder, ground flax and chia seeds, etc. The best sources, of course, are food sources: eating beans, fruits and vegetables (not juiced), whole grains, nuts, and seeds. Because the powder does have a grapefruit pith bitterness, I make it palatable by mixing it with a packet of sweetener and two packets of the Real Grapefruit freeze-dried grapefruit juice, which I also get on Amazon. The combination is something like a mild grapefruit "refresher" or agua fresca. Adding a little sweetness, acidity, and grapefruit juice pushes the taste back into a more well-rounded grapefruit flavor, instead of just the bitter components. Other tart or fruity flavors and a little sweetener would obscure the bitterness, too, I expect, but making it taste like grapefruit is the least amount of work. I am sure there are people who would enjoy making some kind of high-fiber, tippling greyhound with it, but I coddle my liver. I always drink it pretty quickly, before it thickens too much. Grapefruit pectin doesn't make a drink that you can sip slowly. Because pectin can clump, I've an easy method to mix it: I put all the powders into a tall 16 oz. glass and then insert a whisk that fits easily and carefully blend the powders in for about 10 seconds, rolling the handle of the whisk between the palms of my hands, using the fire-starter motion that Boy Scouts use to create fire with a stick. Rinse off the whisk immediately afterwards to avoid having to soak off the pectin later. The same method works well for other fiber powders. Since increasing my dietary fiber and taking a soluble fiber supplement daily, my serum cholesterol has improved.

Cholesterol reducer?
I’m waiting for bloodwork to see if this product reduces cholesterol. No, did not.

Love it, tastes like grape fruit so don't buy if you're a wussy little baby
First off, it tastes exactly like concentrated grape fruit. If you like grape fruit, great. If you hate grape fruit like me, then don't buy it if you're a pathetic wussy baby. When it touches your tongue it will taste bad, deal with it. I sprinkle it on my food and it makes it taste like grape fruit, aka crap. It's the real deal though, you can tell by the taste. If you're looking to get grape fruit pectin in your diet to alter your gut microbiome, then this should work hopefully. If there was such thing as orange pectin I would buy that so it would taste good instead of bad, but because of the obsession with absorbable modified orange pectin, there's no products that will alter your gut biome with orange pectin. Grapefruit pectin is another form of citrus pectin that actually makes it to the colon, so this is the only choice. 5/5 for fiber supplement 0/5 for taste 5/5 overall rating

If youre looking for KoolAid, then take the pill form.
Apparently the people who 1-star this product thought they were buying Kool-Aid. I mix it with water in the morning and drink it straight. Ive made worse stink faces while eating brussel sprouts. The taste reminds me of a taste that is 10x less potent than the taste of powdered Spiralina which i wouldnt blame people for having a negative reaction to that. So yes...it taste like someone dried out some plants and grinded it up. But lets get into what the product is actually for...My cholesterol is down 20 pts and my wife has lost 25lbs so far. Id say its worth 5 stars because its improving our health. Take off one star for the taste if you must, but to give it one star because you dont like the taste? GTFOH. Thats giving people a negative view for all the wrong reasons. If youre lookin for Koolaid, then take the pill form. If your looking to possibly improve your health, then pick this up.

Its an acquired taste - mixed with fruit juice and plain yogurt to a pudding or milkshake consistency I actually can say I like
Yeah, has a bit sharper taste than the Now brand Grapefruit Fiber I used to get, but.... I adapted quickly. Its an acquired taste - mixed with fruit juice and plain yogurt to a pudding or milkshake consistency I actually can say I like it! And my health issues have improved. Its more affordable than some of the other choices. What's not to like.

Godawful Taste
Nothing beats the good old Profibe. I thought this would be similar, it ain't. Stay away. Taste is revolting, it actually tastes like vomit so if you do you won't know the difference. Seriously.

Great Product
I have been using this for a month and replace regular meals with it. Have been losing weight and it seems to stabilize blood sugar also. I mix in some grape juice with the water for a better taste. The taste is not bad to me. Tastes just like grapefruit. I think it is much better than other brands that include soy and other cheap ingredients. It does not give me gas or upset my stomach at all.
