Ascension Magick: Ritual, Myth & Healing for the New Aeon

And just like his Temple series
What can a witch learn from the New Age movement? Is there anything in the Ascension paradigm that can benefit the Neo-Pagan? Are there are any similar roots between the paradigms of “lightworkers” and witches? How do extraterrestrials fit into Paganism? All these questions are tackled in Ascension Magick: Ritual, Myth & Healing For The New Aeon, which is in my opinion a highly underrated and overlooked book in Christopher Penczak’s massive collection of works that he’s authored. The book itself is 561 pages long, making it his largest book that he’s written, barely surpassing The Temple of High Witchcraft: Ceremonies, Spheres and The Witches’ Qabalah by a single page. And just like his Temple series, this book (which feels like it fits in that series, but isn’t officially in it), is full of meditations, rituals, spells, and thought exercises.Ascension Magick looks at concepts and practices of the New Age and its roots in Theosophy and Spiritualism through the lens of an occultist and witch. The book alone is worth buying for its break down of the basics of Theosophy alone, which is often overlooked and confusing to many seekers – as most of the writings come from the late 1800s and early 1900s and as such are written in a really inaccessible manner with a constant use of a whole vocabulary of terms and concepts that are unfamiliar to most. However, one of Penczak’s superpowers is to take complex subjects and teach them in an understandable and accessible way that anyone can comprehend. Penczak also has the gift of being able to see the commonality between paradigms, translating the concepts and terms of one system to that of another and displaying their similarities and their differences. It is this aspect of the book which turns it from a great book to an amazing book.

Must have book
A must have book. First, Christopher Penczak is an excellent writer. The book is so well laid out, flows beautifully, and is packed with information. The author doesn’t try to set himself up as the latest “look at me, follow me, trendy guru”. Many thanks for that! He is very humble. I have studied many of the subjects he covers over many years, with a strong leaning to the science and history end, and I have found him spot on. With detachment he clearly explains the subjects covered and points out the facts, including the questionable side. I just don’t see the usual twisting, spinning, editing, and playing loose and fast with the facts that is too often found in many New Age books. It is up to each of us to find our wide, bright, beautiful road to transcendence, this book goes a long way in pointing out and explaining the options. So from my perspective, “Ascension Magic” and “The Holographic Universe” by Michael Talbot, top my list of must have books for any serious or curious seeker.

Great purchase
I am making my way through your book Christopher and am really enjoying it . More than that, I am studying this book as if it was required reading for a college class. The material lends itself nicely to such an approach because you've given us so much to sink our teeth into. The meditations are top-notch, the historical perspective is needed and your style of writing is clear and smooth. When reading about your book before buying it, someone stated that the book stays open. Seems like a small thing? We'll it's not, lol. I appreciate something like that, especially since I am taking notes as I go through the book. Nice touch.

Say "Goodbye" to Auntie Em!
I am thoroughly enjoying Ascension Magick. Even though I have been a very diligent student of esoterics for a number of years, I find myself going back an rereading much of the earlier material, deepening my understanding and receiving what the author is saying in between the lines. His insights are very keen, and his organizing and presenting of the material is laden with great intelligence and the wisdom of an Elder. If you do buy this book, which I recommend doing, be sure to "work" with the material. The book is designed to be very much like a workbook, with large margins and big pages that stay open no matter where you are in the text, and meditations related to each chapter and to one another. Get those highlighters and red pens ready for this one! Dig in and enjoy! Great expansion awaits!

I like the fact that Penczak shows a sensitivity to all ...
Penczak is more than just a writer, in my opinion. He is a true scholar. This book is a massive tome filled with information that is the product of intensive research. I learned more about ascension thought reading this single book than from numerous others that are collecting dust on my bookshelf. I like the fact that Penczak shows a sensitivity to all paths without demeaning or belittling any of them. And furthermore, he has a unique ability to explain some of these complex ideas in ways that anyone can understand. Another reason I love this book is the inclusion of a lot of practical exercises that readers can gain first hand experience working with.

Love All of it!
This book is your Dictionary for everything Spiritual to New Age from A-Z. The book is broken down with a description and use for all practices. You don’t have to be a Wiccan or trying to activate your DNA Ascension. It’s a detailed introduction of Merkaba to Angels to Elements to Scared Geometry. It’s a fantastic read just for off the norm knowledge. Great book!

Excellent comparative work
I was excited to read this book from someone who's not primarily from this field (Penczak always makes sure his readers understand that he comes from the witch tradition and I appreciate that). Like in his other books, he draws connections to other traditions and tries to find the common ground of the various seemingly different beliefs. He explains the ascension beliefs thoroughly, always looking for the deeper side of things. I find his openmindedness refreshing!

Fantastic, thorough, packed with information
Christopher Penczak is amazing. I wish I'd found this book a year ago when I started on this intense spiritual path. His writing style is accessible and he explained so many things that confused me about lightwork and the ascension paradigm. At the same time, many of his somewhat apologetic theories resonated hard with me, or were ones I'd kicked around in my own head but never found outside of myself.I loved this book so much I ordered it on Kindle first, and then had to get a hard copy. He's got tons of diagrams, references, and meditations. The only complaint I have is that I can't find audio recordings of the meditations anywhere (which is hardly a complaint about the book itself), so I'll have to make them myself.
