Nice heft, feels like quality.
I’ve had a Mühle badger brush for 25 years. It started to lose more bristles lately and thought it was a good time to upgrade. The new one has longer bristles and they are more firm which seems to work the soap in the bowl better and make a richer lather on the skin. It has more heft and that feels like quality. It does have that smell that other reviews had stated but it’s not a deal breaker. It’s not odoriferous, it doesn’t permeate but if you stick your nose in it does smell like wet dog or in this case badger. At least you’ll know it’s organic. I won’t be returning it. If the smell doesn’t dissipate after a few shaves, I’ll soak it in vinegar. If it still isn’t gone… C’est la vie. UPDATE: I’ve been using this new brush for a couple of months now and the ‘wet dog’ smell HAS dissipated and the stiffness in the bristles has softened. It’s the perfect brush now. It’s still about the heft and feel of quality. I’ll go to my grave with this one.

Badger yourself and get this. Worth it.
I saw these brushes and thought this was some sort of overkill and unnecessary. However, after looking I finally ended up buying this (Plum Wood version). I had been using a cream which came ready made for this thing, but using the brush and ending up with the best lather ever. This brush feels great. Suddenly, shaving became a pleasure. Cleaning this is super easy, I simply ran it under the sink and the brush becomes clean. Clearly a stand is necessary because this needs to be stored upside down to dry. Likes?: I absolutely ended up loving the brush with Plum wood. The brush is quite soft from the start, and I did not myself find any smell at all. The brush feels like a quality build. Dislikes?: None. Overall?: This may be the best thing I have ever bought for myself. I actually liked shaving instead of doing a daily task. Recommended.

Luxury!
This isn't an everyday experience for me, but once in a while I like to treat myself to some lather before I shave with my wet/dry Norelco. (Sorry blade guys, but I learned my skin can't handle that method.) I did have a cheap, discount store beaver hair brush before this that was okay, but I decided to treat myself to something better. The Mühle Vivo was WAY better and does all that it claims. It has a soft touch and does an excellent job of retaining heat, working up a fine lather quickly and distributing it evenly across my face. The fine craftsmanship, materials, and design are obvious each time I pick it up. Sure, it was a bit of an extravagance. But my face was so very happy I splurged a bit on it!

Stiffer bristles and not as comfortable and soft as my previous brush.
Very well-made, quality, shaving brush. My only complaint is the tips of all the bristles are a little harder than I would expect and not as soft and comfortable as my well and overused shaving brush that it replaced. Nonetheless, I use it and I think it’s attractive and well-made.

Very nice shaving brush
Christmas gift for my husband and he loves this. It is a very nice brush, thick bristles. He is loving it and we would recommend purchasing (as we will again).

Hold your breath!
Finally broke down and replaced my shaving brush and bought this one. And WOW, the smell of the brush is horrible. Thought it would dissipate after some thorough rinsing and using my shave soap … nope. Going to give it a full week to see if it gets any better. I guess I could hold my breath 😏

Well worth it!
By far the softest shaving brush I have ever felt. Heavy, solid construction, blooms amazing, and lathers great!

Shaving is a breeze with ladder from this brush.

Let me be honest - this was absolutely fantastic for about 11 months, hence 4 stars. Probably the best brush in the world., no kidding, pair this up with the Taylors of Bond Street Sandalwood Saving Creme and you will feel you are in shaving nirvana. However, 11 months later, the hairs start coming off it which accounts for one star taken off from 5. Gradually at first, then in clumps. But then, nothing lasts forever does it? Can you afford a new bush worth £40 quid every year? You can? Good. Then this is the one for you. If not, hey, you cant take your stash with you, so if you want the best shave in the world and the only change you have to make is your brush, and its German, (and yes, at some point 40 years years ago, this evoked a sense of Quality), go for it. But it will start falling apart after 10 - 11 months. But, if, like me, you look and feel so good , do you care? 4 stars because it starts falling apart after 10 months. Nothing lasts forever. And, come on, it looks like the German economy needs a boost. Go for it. But remember, you will need a new one every year.
