Q: Is this the same size as a gamecube controller? The PDP battle pads are bigger, and not very comfortable.

These are pretty darn close to GameCube controllers, and in terms of size they are the same. I got one to use for Smash Bros WiiU (because the GameCube controller adapters are still unavailable...) and I would say this pad from Hori is the next best option after real GameCube controllers. It's responsive and feels good in my hands.

This is really a Classic Controller Pro shaped like a Gamecube controller. As such, it needs to be plugged in to a Wii Remote to work.Although it doesn't function as a standard Gamecube controller, it should work with any game compatible with the Classic Controller (on the Wii or Wii U).

Q: Can I use this controller on an original Gamecube?

The connector only connects to the Wii and Wii U controller (Wiimote).

Sorry for the late reply. No, Super Smash Bros. Brawl will recognize the Battle Pad as a Wii Classic Controller as you need to connect a Wii Remote to the controller.
