Kensington UViator Protective Fly Mask with Removable Nose and Ears

I was looking for a face mask for sun protection that was not cumbersome. I have tried the ones with straps and they were so stiff and did not fit right. I have a white roan 14.3 hand horse with one blue eye and pink skin so his face needs protection. I got a large as my horse has a wide face so I would make sure you measure first. This mask has a thick mesh but it is soft so it easily goes over his face comfortably. The mask comes with two nose shields, one black one which matches the black mesh and one bigger one that is the same fabric as the plaid. The nose piece Velcros onto the mask so needless stay it sticks for about 30 seconds before another horse rips it off. I sewed it on and so far it has stayed on. They talk about a place to hook a lead rope on, it is basically a slot in the Velcro strap you wrap under their head. I have hooked a lead rope on it but truly, if your horse doesn't want to come with you you will need to use a halter. The funnest pat of this is that the mask comes with a matching pair of sunglasses. It was a nice surprise so I am sorry if I spoil it for you.

Kensington makes an extremely sturdy fly mask. It fits well and has great coverage. The most important thing for our horse is the UV protection for his eyes as he has cancer on one eye that is being treated. We are extremely pleased with this fly mask and he hasn't destroyed it.

I really like the product. Tight on my horses head. Love the way it fits securely. I wanted something to protect my white and fair ski horse. He had gotten rid of the nose protector by the next day which was the only disappointing thing.

Like the UV protection and strong velcro. At first we put a breakaway halter over it because we weren't sure if it would stay on with all his rolling and rubbing in the pasture. However by the 2nd week we learned that the velcro is strong enough that my horse keeps it on now without the halter over it. Even the nose cover is attached with strong velcro. Others in the barn have asked where I bought it and plan to buy one.One suggestion ~ would it be possible to configure the eye portion like a race horse goggle? My horse rolls a lot! And he always comes in with the mask covered in mud. If the eye cover was shaped a bit differently, perhaps he couldn't get full contact with the mud over his eyes? Just wondering. Love the mask!

I have a mare with fair skin around her eyes so I’m always cautious about keeping her eyes safe from the UVA/UVB rays. I’ve used the Cashel mask’s in the past & love them. But they are only 70% UVA/UVB protective. The Kensington is 90% UVA/UVB protective. And I feel great knowing she’s protected. I have the one w/ long nose & she has pink skin on her nose & she has never been sunburnt wearing the mask. Only thing I wish they had was a hole for her forelock. She had a thin forelock as it was & the mask did almost rub it off 😭I bought ‘horse size’ for my girl & it seems a bit tight around the jaw & a smidge short on her nose. But overall it does its job!! It’s help up well & when it’s time to replace it, I’ll be ordering up a size

This fit very large on my draft-x gelding (who normally wears oversized everything), I wish I had ordered normal horse size. Quality is great and the velcro is very strong. He's turned out in tall grass with lots of other horses and hasn't had any issues with it staying on, including the nose piece which is pretty major!

Really liked the overall look of the mask and it’s durability around the face. Nice not needing an additional halter. Just hook your leadrope directly to the mask and go. Only downfall both ears ended up ripping off.

Kensington is a great mask, stays on.My only problem is where the nose velcros to the main mask. It's rough so it rubs a raw mark on my horses nose
