Back pain greatly diminished!
I bought this based on reviews. I had the book spiral bound at Staples like another reviewer recommended. Worth it. I've done the back rolling about 7 times. And I must say, it has helped immensely. I have tried EVERYTHING to relieve my back pain; cat-scan cortizone shots; chiropractors; cortico steroids; physical therapy; acupuncture; hot-cold treatments, etc. I was in a bad car accident at age 17; at age 26 I had discs L-4 & L-5 removed. I have been in varying levels of pain since. I tried the Foundation exercises which helped at first but then exacerbated my problem. I didn't like the price of this yellow ball, but I was desperate. I can honestly say that it has helped immensely with my back pain. The first time on the ball, following the book's instructions, I got 4 BIG cracks (my spine adjusting itself) in my back--what a relief that was! After that I knew what to do--completely relax on that ball & let it all go, with each breath, just like the book says, and voila! Relief. Now I do it every other day, and yes, I do feel MUCH better after. It's not hard--it's a no-brainer--just do it a few minutes a day or when you feel pain---and it really does help. I have gone from needing a prop--ie: table or chair--for help "straightening up" after sitting to just being able to stand up without pain. In my opinion, this ball and the book is definitely worth the price. I haven't done any of the other exercises---just the back, since that's what has debilitated me all these years. I would definitely recommend.

Great book to accompany her videos
This is a wonderful book to begin your foray into the wonderful world of body rolling. When I purchased this, I bought the red ball AND the yellow ball. The yellow ball is to be used if the red ball (smaller) is too painful. Also it is recommended to take air out of the balls if the balls are causing pain. This system is one of the most scientific approaches to releasing muscle constrictions and compression patterns in the body. She teaches rolling from origin to insertion and sets up workouts so you can roll through various layers of muscles, and always working the origin and insertion points. I purchased the total body dvd and did that for 2 weeks straight (every day). My body looked slimmer, my double chin went away, AND, I looked like I spent $2000 getting rolfed (created the dancers lift). The only problem with this is like anything in life, you have to keep doing it to continually reap the benefits.the benefits I felt were more energy, better breath, more freedom in my hips, legs, knees, and spine. Reducation of back and neck pain and shoulder pain. Improved posture.I would recommend buying all her books and the starter kit with DVD and 2 balls if you really want to experience the brillance of the work and some real results! In conclusion, this is an amazing way to get more out of your physical therapy. If you've ever rolled on the foam rollers, you know how painful it is, especially working the IT band, or the quadreceps. The ball is a much more pleasurable experience. It does take core muscle strength though. As a 10 year yogini, it was easy for me to stay on the ball. Some of my friends however, were rolling off and onto the floor. Very entertaining! Buy the book, buy the dvd, and experience some real body changes!

Great System!!
Using just the beginning routines in this system has considerably helped some pain-inducing spine/sacrum misalignment to right itself from the very first day I used this. I have done Hatha Yoga for decades, so am easily able to really notice even the smallest shifts in my physiognomy. I would say that this system is best for a person who is able/willing to pay quiet and precise attention to instructions, and body sensations.I also find it to be fun! Kind of kid-like playing on the floor with the body balls. I discovered myself more wiling to do these routines than many other types I might choose. This is empowering because you can experiment for yourself and discover what best works.I look forward to learning and playing with all the varied possibilities presented in this very practical book. I am grateful!

you will be disappointed. You do need some specialized equipment (not much)
Supplements the Yamuna "Beginner's Kit" really well. If you are expecting to buy this book and do Yamuna, you will be disappointed. You do need some specialized equipment (not much). I had already purchased a Beginner's kit which included a soft ball, pump and DVD showing a total body workout. I absolutely love this workout. I bought this book to learn more about the mechanics behind YBR and more ways to use the ball. It is an excellent beginning reference for that. Well written with several photos to illustrate the exercises. I do recommend, however searching the Yamuna site and finding the program right for your body.

This and the MP4 downloads or dvds will work together beautifully. I have much less back pain
Really a must have resource for learning the Yamuna routines. This and the MP4 downloads or dvds will work together beautifully. I have much less back pain, and my plantar fasciitis is almost gone from doing the Yamuna body rolling. I like that she has a version for doing the routine on the wall. For anyone else looking for other methods of pain relief or body alignment, I think that body rolling would work wonderfully with Jill Miller's Yoga Tune Up or Katy Bowman's Restorative Exercise. I prefer the Yamuna routines because it's stretching, strengthening and massage all in one.

Back pain relief
I purchased a set of yoga body balls that came with a video. The video showed very little to do with the larger ball. I checked this book out from the library and was thrilled to see how much more you could do with it. I renewed it...and renew it again...and again. I use it and my yoga balls almost daily for pain relief. It has really helped to relieve my back and neck pain. It makes my whole day go so much smoother. I enjoyed it so much that I purchased this book as a Christmas gift along with the yoga balls for someone else. They loved it as much as I did!

Excellent.
Wonderful book, I had been to a Yamuna workshop with my Pilates instructor so has the balls already, I was just browsing through Amazon, as you do and found this book. although it isn't as good as going to a class it explains in detail each exercise and prompted my memory.

ok but ...
I bought "the Miracle Balls" at the same time as this book and evidently prefer the former due to the simpleness i.e. do nothing.I have tried the body rolling exercises but they do take a while do do...and effort. If you hurt somewhere you may find getting into some positions or the actual body roll a bit akward. The problems I had whilst I was trying to body roll my back- I found myself with my teeshirt up my back and frantically trying to cover myself which is off putting and not reaxing,- I ended up using an awful lot of floor space, my head was at least a metre from where it started...yes it does become a problem in a flat.If you want to relax and have back pain I would recommend the use of "The Miracle Balls" and not body rolling as a first step to a painfree back.
