These cakes are not "just cakes". They are works of art. Every single cake in this book has me thinking up what kind of occasion or party I can muster up as an excuse to make one....then eventually all. The hardest part becomes in deciding what one to make, as the flavor profiles for each "edible painting" (as I like to call her cakes since I can't stop looking at them like a great painting) is as drool worthy as the image evokes.The care she put in styling each photo is as thoughtful and creative as the cakes and decoration styles. Stunning. Multi-talented.I am not a baker; more of a good home cook. But I HAD to buy this book after finding her blog Call Me Cupcake (http://call-me-cupcake.blogspot.com/) and feeling like her cakes whisked me away to some dreamy place I want to live forever at. The thing that really draws me to her culinary artwork, is that as you look closely, the beauty lies in their simplicity of execution. The first chapter gives tip and techniques that further bolsters my confidence that I may indeed be able to execute a cake as beautiful. (Having a picture for each recipe helps me, too!)The books design, typography and instructional steps are excellent. Printed on matte paper w an intriguing cover that makes this a sure go to book as a gift for all my baking friends as well as the gift it was to myself. You won't be sorry gifting this book to yourself (or another) either.(Now if only her newest book would get released in English, too!)

I bought this as a treat to myself after following Lomelino on Instagram. I'm not able to use a lot of the traditional baking ingredients in my diet (eggs, sugar, etc--which this book has), but I tend to collect cookbooks and wanted this one for my collection. Her aesthetic is incredibly inspiring. While I will have to look into a few ingredient substitutions, I can't wait to wait to work through these recipes and put her techniques to practice.

Overall very nice looking book. But small typo on the chocolate espresso cake recipe. Gives no further instruction on what to do with the melted butter after it cools. At first I thought I was just misreading the recipe but I had my friend read it too and we've come to the conclusion there's a typo on the cake batter instructions. But other than that mishap, cookbook is lovely and worth buying.

First found Linda's photography on Pinterest, then discovered this book. There are just two of us at home and it never occurred to me to make 6" cakes! Very grateful for this book. Have made one cake so far and it was delicious.

Excellent Book, Beautiful Photos, Easy Instructions... The Blueberry Cake with Lemon Buttercream is a Winner , is Delicious, moist and easy to make.

I've made 3-4 of the cakes in this cookbook with mixed results, including the cover recipe, which - like the previous reviewer - turned out leaden. It looks beautiful (meringue turned out great), but I'm probably going to end up throwing it away because no one in my family wants to eat it. I could tell even before I baked it that the consistency of the batter was off, but I didn't have time to re-make it (and didn't see much point, since I followed the recipe exactly) so I just forged ahead. Anyway, the result was disappointing for my daughter's birthday...Also, there must be a huge difference between our ovens, because the baking times in this book are WAY off (too long) for my oven.

I follow Linda on Instagram and found this book when looking for recipes on her website. I've made three of the cakes...I would consider myself an intermediate-level baker, and the recipes were clear and foolproof. The accompanying pictures are beautifully styled. I also appreciate the explanation of techniques and of the importance of different tools/quality ingredients in the beginning.

Love this so much - beautiful book with beautiful pictures. Couldn't be happier. :)

This book is amazing. Linda is such an inspiration for aspirational home cooks and this book is completely worth the splurge. The photographs are beatiful in here too!
