One of your only options if you want to use Moto Mods. Tiny USB opening.
There aren't many options for the whole Moto line if you want to be and to use your Moto mods, which is the whole point of the phone. This is one if those very few choices.I do not own the 360 camera mod but I did try playing with the one on display at my local Fry's Electronics and I did discover it won't fit with this case installed FYI. Everything else I have seems to be fine however. I'm have the extra battery, JBL speaker and the Hasselblad camera and they all work just fine.Installation was a bit of a pain. There are numerous stickers warning not too bend the case yet it's about impossible to slide the phone in without catching the power and volume buttons on the way in. The first five times I tried installing it I had to redo it because one of the buttons either didn't work or was stuck in the on position. Mind you I had to power down the phone each install attempt to avoid unwanted button activations so this was particularly annoying. I eventually got it and on a subsequent removal/installation it went the first time without any hassle so I suppose the case has a break in period. The bottom part of the case has a hinge that closes around the phone. There first closure took a good but of force, but the second installation was much easier. To release you need a SIM removal tool which is included. The new Moto cheap punched metal SIM removal tool is barely up to the task though and tends to bend a bit during this action. You would have to carry around the tool if you want to access the SIM and SD card slot so keep this in mind.My biggest gripe with this case by a mile however is the charging port opening. Of course it works with the phones included USB C cable, but almost all the other cables I've purchased won't fit. They need to be very low profile. These brands will not fit: Anker, the one that came with a Google Pixel and the thicker Amazon Basics. The only 3rd party cable that seems to fit is an older Amazon basics black cable I've had for a long time. The material is really nice aluminum. It's painted with a somewhat textured coating that gives just enough grip. The amount of protection it gives is yet to be determined. I did drop it on carpet once where it hit a dresser drawer on the way down. There is a very slight nick on the corner and it's no worse for the wear. I hope it will protect the phone.

Almost everything I've read about this turned out to be true, but it's still usable
Edit 2/24: after owning it a few days now, I can say I'm feeling a bit better about it. I've raised the rating to 4 stars because while it does have a few dents in it, there doesn't seem to be any signs of discoloration or any of the wear I was worried about. Hopefully it'll last, it looks great with the leather style shell. As for the charging port, I was able to find a cable that fit from one of my many chargers I've bought before. After reading the reviews and waiting for this to come back in stock, I have to say I agree with most everything said. While I'll have to wait and see how this metal frame holds out, my first impression is that it will scratch and the plastic tab might not last as long. The charging port is indeed too small to allow my cables to connect properly, it does charge but can easily be disconnected. Also, as opposed to my other bumper case, which is plastic, this one does not offer protection for the camera bump, which is easily scratched. Which is why I believe the case will be taking a beating since I will almost always be setting my phone face down to protect the camera, which will lead to scratches to the main frame. I also read how it affects your signal strength and while it does make me lose bars, it hasn't really affected my speeds or calls. I wish I could give this a 3.5 rating because I don't feel I could give it the full 4 stars. The fingerprint works perfect and the buttons do too. I just slid my phone in and was ready to go. I do like the weight it adds, makes me feel like my phone isn't as fragile as it feels like without the case.I'm still glad I bought it when I got the chance. It was sold out and I didn't want to miss out on owning it like the wireless charging style shell. Now that's something I regret not buying.

Excellent Except for Charging Port
I love this case. I had the original Moto Z Force before I got this Z3 and got the original bumper case for that phone, which is just a rubbery plastic that stretches around the sides. While it was great for protection and grip, it wasn't very aesthetic and showed fingerprints and dirt quite prominently. This case not only looks and feels great with a black smooth aluminum reminiscent of the iPhone 6 edges but black. It has a heft that feels solid without feeling heavy, and combined with the battery mod's extra size, I find it fits much more comfortably and securely in my grip. I was worried about the fingerprint sensor access, but the thinning of the aluminum around it with a full cut out on the back side allow it to work just as well as without the case. All of the negative reviews saying the case was too tight causing the buttons to be pushed in and constantly activated had me worried as well. Luckily, I think most of these people just missed the instructions written all over this page to push the buttons out from the inside of the case before installation The buttons are just as if not slightly easier to engage, and the case itself combined with the couple of air holes actually seems to act as a bit of a heat sink and keeps the phone slightly cooler during heavy use. And now to the elephant in the room; the charging port. The only reason I had to dock this case a star is because of the charging port hole, which pretty much everyone else has mentioned as well. All of my different cords (4-5 brands) would not seat fully in the charging port at the bottom of the phone, though they do fit and will charge the phone but are easily knocked out. This was essentially a non-issue for me since one of my mod batteries has a usb-c port and the other wireless charging, both of which can charge the phone as well when attached. However, a slight modification to the case easily remedied the problem for good. Also, all of my mods fit perfectly without any issues or interference; Original JBL Speaker, Hasselblad TrueZoom, TUMI Battery w/ Wireless, Moto Turbopower Pack and the Style Shell that came with the Z Force.
