A good start
Where this book is a great find, please keep in mind that it is not a drawing course. What I like about this book is that it gives the reader a great foundation as well as some stylized help. However, be careful. Stylized techniques can become bad habits and you can end up drawing someone else's style instead of your own.The book is 125 pages. Out of that you have2 pages explain the supplies you need, a section on how to draw heads, a section on drawing figures (which is a great section as it goes into the principals of doing correctly proportional drawings as well as skewed drawings depending on your purpose), drawing your surroundings, the art of inking, and sequential storytelling. The inking section is rather lacking as the book is only 125 pages. If you want a good inking book then I would recommend The Art of Comic Book inking or a similar book that focuses on that specific need. Also, perspective is not covered in enough detail for me in this book which I think is an essential in doing comic books.I am a graphic artist with over ten years in the field and I would recommend this book for a beginner.

This is a great book
I love comic books and superheroes. Blessed with a little artistic talent, some story/hero ideas, and no clue where to start I ordered this book a few weeks ago. I love it. Dick Giordano will admit himself that it is not a complete work on every topic covered. But if you have been drawing for years, and are somewhat experienced with recreating images that you have in front of you with a pencil, then this book is wonderful. I am very pleased with my progress and would recommend this book to anyone who considers themself at an intermediate drawing level who is looking to advance their abilities.

Must have drawing book.
I remember reading this book in college when I was studying animation. I really wanted to get into comic book drawing and I checked this book out of the library all the time. Now I own it and I couldn't be more happy with that decision. Dick Giordano is a legend and if you want to learn how to draw properly this is the book.

For fans of Giordano
This book is basically a carbon copy of all such how-to-draw-comics books. You get the same basic pages, not showing you so much how to actually draw a hand or head, but instead more-or-less finished drawings useful only to someone who already knows how to draw. So fairly useless if you're not an artist trying to learn some new ways to frame a shot or change a perspective. I bought this only because I'm a Giordana fan. I was pleased with about a third of the images here, the rest didn't do much for me. For the price, however, it was a good buy and worth having in my collection.

Very comprehensive and easy to read
Having bought pencilling books before this is the best iv come across. Lots of detail, much more than iv seen in this books competitors. Plenty of extremely well drawn examples aswell as more step by step drawing instructions. There are also plenty of captions giving advice, aswell as sections on storytelling and adapting a script to comic panels. The information is also presented very well, which makes it even more effective at making the reader a better drawer. The only reference book you need for learning how to draw comics.
